How senior is ‘senior’?

Letter from Jeffrey Law Lee Beng

I AGREE with “‘Silly’ to restrict senior concessions” (Sept 22). Besides public transport, senior citizens are also subject to a few perplexing situations.

A person must be 65 years old to enjoy subsidised polyclinic rates, but at some cinemas, those 55 years and above enjoy special rates at off-peak hours.

Different organisations have their own definitions of who a senior citizen is.

[*World  Definition is  55 years*]

Can’t we decide on a specific age in Singapore?

In Malaysia, one is a senior citizen at 55 years.

Whenever I book a ticket to anywhere in Malaysia by Keretapi Tanah Melayu, I just show my identity card to enjoy a special rate of about 50 per cent.

Half-hearted gestures like the restriction on concessionary fares are nothing but an insult to older citizens.

* * * *   * * * *   * * * *   * * * *

PS:

CPF    defined  55 years  for  CPF Rates Reduction

CPF    defined  62 years  for  CPF ANNUITY

SMRT defined  60 years for  Off Peak Senior Discount

HR      defined  40 years for  Senior Recruitment Cut Off

Marketing  defined  50 years  for  Senior  Segmentation

While only her husband is working in Australia,  my sister-in-laws who is a homemaker recevies a monthly unemployment allowance, a child allowance for her elder child and a baby allowance for her baby.

She can enjoy FREE ENGLISH education in the university.

All medical consultations are FREE, only pay for the medicines.

My uncle who is retired in Australia, also enjoyed all the FREE education just tO his TiME.

nOw, i regret that i did not bother to take up the PR before.

Sporeguy      ( Date: 02-Apr-2010 12:43) Posted:

I heard that PR in Australia got almost the same benefit as the citizen. A cousin (sporean) of my friend went to set up a chip & fish restaurant for a few yrs, got PR, close down the restaurant and got all the benefit such as unemployment and medical as long as he does not own more than 1 property. Now he goes fishing by the lake everyday. Any input !

What is its Placement PRiCE ?

very important ??

grandmaster89      ( Date: 31-Mar-2010 17:49) Posted:

Novo sold its 18 million treasury shares at $0.23 to various institutional shareholders this morning. They made a tidy profit from the sale since they repurchased shares at around 12 cents a year ago.

Purpose for the placement in Jan 2010 -

The Company is undertaking the Placement to increase its public float to 25% in preparation of the Dual Listing. Accordingly, there is no minimum amount which, in the reasonable opinion of the Directors, must be raised in the Placement.

As of 31 March (after selling 18 million treasury shares ) -

Total Number of Outstanding Shares - 673,219,640 (excluding 10 mil treasury shares)

Management Shares - 501,661,124

Free Float - 171,558,516

Public now owns 25.48%. At last Novo meets the HKSE listing requirement !!!

what is the Dividend  Distribution  in  FY2009?

this is an important  indication.

see2eye      ( Date: 21-Aug-2008 10:42) Posted:

Basing on the current trading price of 0.225 to 0.23,  the full year divdient of 8 cents worked out to be 34.7% return.  Of it,  if approved,  about 21.7% or 5 cents is paying out soon.

K1 seems to be a good buy.... even better than REIT for long-term investment.

What do you believe in?

The lower channel support was definately provoked.

The three sessions displayed a Three River Morning Doji Star ( http://www.litwick.com/indicators/1129.html

in which if you are convinced that it's a sign of reversal, you would have bought in yesterday to enjoy today's continuous up run.

If you are playing the range within the channel, CCI is hitting 100 soon (RED Circle) and one should consider locking some money (since tmr is the eve of PH as well).

If you are playing the trend in which the overall channel is still uptrend, the positive ADX (blue line) has just reversed (ORANGE Square) with still room to run.
