Independent Directors with Ernst & Young as the financial advisor strongly recommend Rejection of the Offer.  The pathetic offer price was accepted by the family of the late CEO due to trying circumstances. Glencore is really unscrupulous to take advantage of the poor widow.

My take is to buy now at .36 and wait for it to move above .60 after the offer lapses.

I STRONGLY agree with Ms Rachel Yang (“Why I like my long bus rides”, March 31). I also prefer to ride on the bus than the MRT, especially on long-distance journeys, though it may not be the faster option.

Most of the time, I am able to get a seat on the bus. The aircondition works all the time, enhancing the experience. Best of all, a bus will take me nearer to my destination, while an MRT train may not.

In contrast, one can hardly get a seat on the train, even during non-peak hours. During peak hours, one has to fight to squeeze into the train. After you succeed, you have to fight just to get your fair share of oxygen:

The ventilation on board is usually poor, and it’s usually warm and stuffy on the train.   [Sounds  like  in  3rd World country ?]

It’s all made worse if the person standing next to you has morning breath.

Although SMRT announced that it was adding additional train trips from March 22, I have not seen a significant improvement during the morning peak hours. With 11 more Circle Line stations set to open on April 17, will the network be able to cope with the expected surge in ridership?

Meanwhile, the authorities are already planning to further load the trains with bus passengers...  [trying  to  Overload MRT?]

We also have to consider our ageing population.

With the “hub-and-spoke” system, the elderly will be made to walk even more. They already have to walk when swapping trains or swapping from buses to the MRT stations; now they may have to alight just to get from Point A to Point B via the bus.

I urge the LTA to consider alternatives to terminating any bus routes with high passenger loads, “cross-country” or otherwise.

And any costs incurred due to proposed changes should not be passed down to the commuters, in the form of paying an additional fare to get on board the second half of what used to be a single bus journey.

[*I am AFRAID  if this  is  where  the  Extra  Bonus  of  Ministrer will come from ????]

tO  be  OPEN  FAIR  JUST  TRANSPARENT  to  millions of people

Minister of  TRANSPORT  in any country  must  WALK  THE  TALK

in  Order  to  tell  the  millions of  people  that  the

PUBLIC  TRANSPORT  SYSTEMS  ARE  GOOD

by  taking  PUBLIC  TRANSPORT  to  WORK  everyday.

this  must be the PRE-REQUISITE  of  every  TRANSPORT  POSITION.

so  that  there  is  ABSOLUTELY   NO  CONFLICT  OF  INTEREST.

between  the  Position  Holders  and  the  Public.

PUBLIC  want  to  SAVE  TRAVEL  TiME  and  TRAVEL  COST.

Position  Holders must NOT increase PUBLIC's  TRAVEL TiME and TRAVEL COST

that is the  BASIC  CONFLICT  OF  INTEREST  in  TRANSPORTATION

SINGAPORE  AIR QUALITY  had gotten  from  wOrse  tO  WORST.

SINGAPORE  AIR  QUALITY  is  nOw  3rd  WORLD ? ? ? ?

For  DECADES,  COE BIDDING  SYSTEM  had PROVEN that it  DID NOT  TERMINATE  TRAFFIC  JAMS  and  CAR  POLLUTION.

COE  BIDDING  SYSTEM  is  Complacent  Incompetent  Negligent  Exuberant  [CINE]

It  increases  CAR  PRiCES,  BUS COST,  DELIVERY TRANSPORT  COST,  COST OF LIVING, FOOD COST, PROPERTY COST,  HOUSING COST,  LABOUR COST, MULTI-LEVEL INFLATION.

BIDDING  by  AGENCY rather than CAR  BUYERS  causes  COE  SPECULATION and  COE PROFITEERING.

FIXING CAR PRICE WITH  COE TO BE BIDDED rather than with  CURRENT COE STOCK-IN-HAND  promotes  HOARDING  INFLATION and  further  BIDDING  OF  HIGH COE PRICES to  GAIN SURPLUS  SUPERPROFIT   from  existing  COE  INVENTORY.

COE  is  the  4th  HIGHEST  INTERNAL  INFLATION  DRIVER.

Current BIDDING  SYSTEM  discriminate the  less endowed Singaporeans.

It  FAILS  to  fulfill   GOOD  GOVERNANCE

for  being  OPEN  FAIR  JUST  TRANSPARENT

QUEUEING  and  BALLOTING  SYSTEM  LIKE THAT OF THE HDB  is:

OPEN  FAIR  JUST  TRANSPARENT

fulfilling  all  four  PILLARS  of  GOOD  GOVERNANCE.

WITH the recent tweaks to the COE quota, the prices of cars have risen. I have a couple of suggestions to help take some of the frustration out of the equation for potential car buyers.

First:

The price of a car should not be bundled with the COE quota premium.

The current system enables car sellers to speculate on the COE price.

With a cut in the number of COEs, the total supply in the number of new vehicles will correspondingly drop.  As such, car retailers should maintain or reduce the price of their vehicles if they want to maintain equivalent market share — not raise prices

[MARKET ECONOMIC DISTORTION]

It should only be the COE price which fluctuates according to demand.

The fact that they are able to raise the price of their vehicles in anticipation of COE price rises which may not take place shows that the cost of the COE system tweaks is being absorbed entirely by consumers

[COST OF LIVING AND INFLATION DRIVER]

Second:

When you walk into a showroom and put down the deposit on a car, you have entered into a binding contract to buy the car. Yet, you are not even certain of getting a COE to support that purchase, due to the current bidding system.

[sub-PRIME  BIDDING  SYSTEM]

Why not have the system require that you must first purchase and produce a COE

This would take the uncertainty — as well as the grey area which allows car firms to take advantage of fluctuating COE prices — out of the process.before you can purchase a vehicle?
