See my post on 21 Sep.  Multiple Moving Average (MMA) shows the price is moving upwards steadily.   Then was 4.04-4.06. Today is 4.12-4.14....    It is still going up.

The bottomline is always do your homework and not let other people do it for you. Broking houses who do research on certain stocks could have hidden agendas.

Furthermore, if these financial gurus are so accurate, they will be billionaires. Why should they be making a living by writing financial recommendations?

There are financial gurus who are being paid to write positive articles on companies. I guess this will not happen in Singapore.

Few months ago, some of the stock gurus were predicting SPH to rise to $5.40 and also to divest its holdings on M1 and Starhub. However, these predictions proved to be inaccurate.

Predictions by these gurus are intended for reading pleasure. Ultimately, the investors are the people to decide. Afterall, it is their $

OCBC downgraded from Buy to Hold for Singapore Press Holdings (SPH). SPH announced plans to redevelop the Times Industrial site into a condominium project. OCBC has estimated total net profit of S$311.4m for this project. SPH reported a set of subdued results with topline growth of 0.6% YoY to S$237.2m, with core operating profits down 8.8% YoY to S$94.5m. Net profits grew 80.7% YoY to S$174.6m due to a write-back of impairment loss of S$69.1m after the revaluation of Paragon to S$1.52bn (previously S$1.38bn). Industry trends of weaker advertising growth coupled with rising costs are areas of concern although SPH's property segment through rentals should give earnings some support. OCBC has revised its fair value of SPH to S$4.20 (previously S$5.15), based on sum-of-parts valuation.

Citigroup raises SPH  FY08 net profit forecast by 8% to S$488.6 million. Says "shares have underperformed due to the sluggish growth of its core newspaper business...but the group continues to generate strong cash-flow which should sustain our estimated net dividend of 23 cents (similar to last year) giving a net yield of 5.7%." Keeps Buy call, with S$5.04 target. Adds, "the development of its Times Industrial Building should maximize value for shareholders."

Based on MMA chart, the stock is inclined upward. (slow and steady) SPH historical 1 yr low is 3.86 and High is 4.96.  Now is 4.04-4.06.

Most likely, won't be wrong if enter now  in view of forthcoming dividends.  Good defensive stock  in uncertain times.

SPH trend a little uncertain. I think the price will be pretty stagnant for a while

SPH is consolidating itself very fast. In view of the recent turmoil (Military Coup in Thailand), SPH is climbing whereas most other Blue Chip shares went down.

Furthermore, this is the time for disbursing dividends and possibly, the divestment of its shares in M1

This is the time to start buying and let go once the dividend is declared.
