I suspect that one trade with 1 lot might be just to test water, seems like no further taker but at least it set an intraday record. Just my guess.

It moving slowly, very slowly but inches upwards simce the last support at 4.16 for awhile

Agree with maxsyn... Bollinger bands are tight indicating sudden price movement is impending. Likely direction may be upwards.

However, this may take some time to happen. The uptrend is not too clear yet.

SPH is a very safe and dull ivestment. The price will creep up slowly and reward u with decent dividend during up and down of the mkt. It main role is not to make a lot of money for shareholders but more importantly to serve the unique political role

incirent,

In my view, our politicians are basically administrators, or shoulld I say, 'elected' civil servants, who do not necessarily make good entrepeuners or businessmen.

Case in point is Phillip Yeo, the much touted high flying civil servant. When he assumed the exec chairmanship of SembCorp, the counter was trading @ about $11-12 and had a cash war chest of about $800mil. When he left, SCI was trading at less than $1 and was about $2 bil in debt. To save P Yeo's face, Temasek had to merge the profitable STIC (Spore Tech Ind Corp) to bail out SCI.

Yeo is a good 'Project Manager' where he is given lots of $$$ to spend, spend, spend to make things happen (Jurong Island, 'A'Star) but he is definitely not a 'wealth creator'.

No doubt Tony Tan is a brilliant 'elected civil servant', but is he a good entrepeuner/ businessman?......I guess only time will tell.

Correction on your statement that TT could have been the next PM after GCT. After GCT, there was never any doubt who the next PM was going to be....i.e LHL.....in fact I think GCT stayed on abit longer than was planned by the Lee father and son. The fact of the matter is,  LKY favoured TT (instead of GCT) to succeed him.

When Alan Chan (CEO) sold the first tranche of his optioned shares, I did not think much of it as it is quite normal for execs to take profit (uaually about 20% of total exercised) to cover their tax liabilities.

But, when he sold the second tranche of 188 lots, I intepreted it as a signal that he did not have much confidence in more price appreciation of the counter, otherwise he would have kept them for a longer term to reap even more profit. Hence, when he did this, I unloaded all my holdings.

May consider picking it up again a week or two before xd......if price is reasonable..

To a certain extent your observation is quite correct. Tony is a very capable person and it had been proven. He could have been the next PM of Singapore after Goh Chok Tong but he has the foresight to skip this golden opportunity because of the political situation at that time. Because of this, he is a survivor.

Running a corporation is slightly different. Like what Singapregal mentioned previously, unless there is a major upheaval, there will not be any earth quake in the Board Room.

I hope Ig 1167 is correct that SPH will rise to $4.84 before the 22nd of December/06.
