Should we believe such a ridiculous statement? Is there any ground/based about this issue? You might be in trouble, when it turns this statement as an accusation to YZJ's Chairman out from the real fact. Please do mind youir statement!

Good luck to the chairman.

According to newswires such as Tradewinds and SinoShip, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding (YZJ) has put up three abandoned 2500 TEU containerships for resale.

One of the vessels has already completed and the other two were scheduled to be completed by May this year.

We think the three vessels were originally ordered in 2007 values of such vessels were around US$50m then, but have fallen to about US$24m currently.

Two of the five installments for each vessel have been paid up, accounting for 40% of the total contract value. With the 40% deposit, and assuming YZJ is able to sell the vessels at current prices, the difference per vessel is not substantial (~US$6m).

Source: Tradewinds, Bloomberg

Though the above-mentioned three vessels account for a very small portion of YZJ’s order book (US$3.58b, comprising 75 vessels as at 30 Sep 2012), we are more concerned of the possibility of further cancellations.

Recall that YZJ saw its first order cancellation in Jun 2012 (two 34,000DWT bulk carriers originally ordered by FreeSeas, but YZJ did not suffer a loss from this due to the deposit), and ceased contracts for another six 82,000DWT bulk carriers around the same period as well (three were resold, and potential buyers were being sourced for the rest).

An  CLSA report comes not a moment too soon for the region’s dry bulk shipping industry, and is especially good news for three Singapore-listed plays with heavy exposure to the industry and strong reliance on the well-being of Mainland China’s overall economy: Yangzijiang, JES and Courage Marine.

Yangzijiang Shipbuilding's proposal on Jan 16 to issue 330 million warrants at a price of 0.3072 yuan (0.0605 sgd) apiece looks rather prescient in retrospect now that CLSA has just published its upbeat report on China’s dry bulk shipping sector. If CLSA is accurate in its forecast  that seaborne dry bulk demand will improve as China’s economy grows at greater than 8% GDP in 2013, then YZJ’s recent fund-raising move will certainly pay off down the road on expected order growth for bulk vessels to carry all that iron ore, coal and other bulk commodities needed to keep the hungry Chinese economic juggernaut well fed.

“According to management, this proposed warrant issue is for YZJ to prepare funds for the future when the shipbuilding industry recovers,” OCBC recently said. The  recent NextInsiight Story  giving OCBC’s take on the warrant proposal said that although the move is a fundraising exercise, the amount that YZJ will receive for now is relatively insignificant to the amount that may potentially come in later when the warrants are exercised. Net proceeds of around 92.17 million yuan (~18.15 million sgd) will come from the warrant issue, and assuming all warrants are exercised, YZJ will receive additional proceeds of about 2.514 billion yuan (~495 million sgd), which will be used for general working capital. With a net cash and financial assets position of 9.95 billion yuan, YZJ is in no need of cash for the near term.

YZJ management contends that this is long-term planning as the potential funds would provide additional financial flexibility for future market expansion and development opportunities.

The OCBC report earlier this month maintained its “Hold” recommendation on YZJ with a fair value estimate of 0.95 sgd (recent share price 1.01).

Yangzijiang also released a statement on its website on January 22 providing insights into its business strategy going forward. Management said it was fully confident that YZJ would realize its growth aspirations in 2013. “We realize many were dispirited about the shipbuilding sector’s performance in 2012. But 2013 is a new year and a new start, and we are ready to move forward with confidence.” Calling 2012 a “black year,” YJZ management said it was ready to both move on and move forward with greater determination.  It said market-based adjustments in production plans are in place.

don't analyze too much...   BB have their own way of collecting the shares.

relax and have faith if you know what you're doing.

buy more when it reaches ur target price.

for me, my target is still 95-96cents, so I would be glad if the price can drop to that range & I'll collect a batch of buy up, leaving some money for another batch if it goes down some more.   Smiley

Agreed. Cheongsl also brought out an interesting fact that Citi will only start pushing it after  the warrant issue  was approved in the coming AGM on 27 April. If now the price is above $1.5 then likely it will be rejected in the AGM.

So till then, it will be likely trading within this range for BB collection.

Today large volume action trade show very strange behaviour. It seems to be all are  sell action. But if you know what happen at 8:58 and 17:04, actually this are the two timming that B/S can make a different. Today action can be say quietly collecting, till the last minute I am still puzzle why no major action being done.

Until the last minute the queue to sell still have 2000 over lots at 0.995, but at 17:04, where the final close price come out it is 714lots buy at 0.995 and 960lots sell at 1.000. And check actually 3107 lots have been buy up at 0.995.

If collecting action is in place, the price will still depend on the BB that is still collecting. Thus only when they decide to let it go then the price will move, otherwise it will still be up and down in this region.

It is a form of tactic practice to ensure that the collected share will not be taken by die hard fans during the block. Those weak seller and shortest share will go in front the queue.
