Celestial is a company dealing with the processing of soybean products.

So whenever soybean prices shoot up, the earnings of this company will fall, and correspondingly, the price of the share will fall in the short term.

Currently, the outlook for global commodities is poor, with surging prices and even higher prices awaiting. This is worsened by the fact that farmers are rushing in to the biofuels craze in bid for a quick buck, and planting less of crops like soybean, and those soybean that are planted are sequested to soyoil production. So overall, demand for soy remains high and rising, but production is hardly rising. Factor this together on top of rising fertiliser costs. The only deduction I gather is more pain for celestial.

On May 9, 2008, the USDA estimated 2008-2009 ending stocks at 185 million bushels, up from 145 million bushels in 2007-2008. The resulting 2009 ending stocks to use ratio is 6%, still a tight situation. Worldwide, the USDA estimated that 2007-2008 ending stocks will drop from 63 to 49 million tons or 21% of annual use. Brazil and Argentina's soybean crops are being harvested now and are only expected to increase slightly from last year.

Unless soy prices fall soon, prices of celestial do not seem to be rising anytime soon.

surprisingly, the snow storm, etc doesn't affect their delivery.. 50++% net profit increased is good compared to synear issue profit warning... obviously yesterday sell down is a BB play , anyway, let's see how it perform today..

and tomorrow will be synear results.... expect in loss.

indeed at 1st thought, rising soya beans will affect celestial, but in this 1Q report, the management has proven able to mitigate the problem by passing the cost & good cost control.
