Today's selldown is across the board. Not many bluechips survive today's downturn.
shplayer. all your good points mentioned, this counter should uptrend but it downtrend. today is a massive sell down and sia is not spare. the china issue maybe the cause of it.
huatua,
No worries.......remember, in Aug/Sep07, SIA did a mandatory capital reduction cum share buy back at $18.46.
So, mgmt must believe that that was a good price to do a buy back.
haha.. yes.. i missed de one at 16.20.. so i q at 16.32 but it just goes up.. so bite de bullet.. hit at 16.44.. who noe.. later really ganna bak at 16.32.. bang balls.. but still okie lah.. hit bak abv my secure px.. heehee..

wow free falling, will it reach $16
Air China's parent company is trying to torpedo the deal.
when one built up it's brand name and loyalty base, it can afford to 'revise' fuel charge when it deems fit and that is SIA. People complaint, but they still book themselves on SIA.
Pension: if SIA goes lower, it will not be because rising fuel but Air China's messing around with the deal btw SIA and China Eastern Airlines (as mentioned by shplayer). U been following the development? No ?
This is becoz SIA charges higher fuel & "Osama" surcharges to its passengers. I paid S$240 per person on fuel and "Osama" surcharges to go to Seoul last June. And, SIA staff can't even answer how this S$240 is broken down. So, SIA could be making money from these surcharges.
Pension,
Totally agree with you that fuel cost is always a concern for SIA. However, if you look at the HY08 results (latest financials), Co. is managing this problem well.

Revenue increased by approx 8% but fuel cost actually DECREASED by about 5.7%.
tommorrow, this counter will dip further due to high oil price.
Thanks for the info.
At most, I can afford only ONE lot.

Pension,
From info I can find, each A380 costs about USD300m......incl engines and spares.
I figure SIA would not only have broken even financially, but was profitable, from the second round trip to Sydney.....as you are aware, the revenue for the first round trip to Sydney were donated to charity.

The current depression in SIA stock price is probably due to mkt concern whether or not the China Eastern deal will go through. If it does, it will present SIA with more opportunities. If it dosen't, it will not adversely affect SIA's outlook.
everyone here is aware the huge investment pump into A380, did you ask your self when is the breakeven period? it is not one year, it is more than 1 year.
Totally agreed with Derek.
next week good buying opportunity for this counter.keep tune.
There is this beyond first class seat....like a little suite. More like a lifestyle for the rich and famous and who's who, yet not rich enough to own their own jet. Definitely not for the average S'porean or avg travellers.....
What is the fuss about ?
Us average Singaporean, at most can only afford the economy class.
HI Eastonboy,
What I heard was that SIA was asked to be the launch customer as at that time many airlines were waiting to see who is brave enough to place order so airbus approach SIA striking a good deal i suppose and SIA being an industry leader speaks of confidence, as such orders naturally picked up.
