I use Poems and SJ charts together and they're quite similar. I encountered no issues so far.

The only thing about SJ charts is that they go back only 1 year.

Hi singaporegal, understand liao. But do you notice sometimes the SJ charts are not so accurate in terms or the readings e.g pricing, the indicators readings?

Hi maxsyn,

I don't use any software... don't believe in paying $$ for over-rated tools. I just use the free charts here at SJ and also those at Poems.

Hi singaporegal, what software are you using? Would you recommend one?

Hey rouge_trader,

I use A/D, Chaikin, RSI for trend analysis. Williams %R for oversold/overbought analysis and Bollinger to see if sudden price change will occur. I find that these tools work well together in a combo.

I don't use any other indicators and don't really care what they say. To do so would be confusing and be a case of "analysis paralysis".

Usually, when companies make profit, they may return/share/reward the shareholders (owners) by giving them some of the profits. This is called 'divident'. Dividents are uusually declared at the end of the financial year....but some may also declare 'interim' divident during te course of the financial year.

Heavy volume but price cannot move up despite STI hitting new high. This could be in the distribution by big fund while CD is on as retail investors are buying for the 17 cents dividend (ex on 8/12/2006).

The share price could priced in the dividend already and there won't be any positive news to move the share price after the full year result. Very likely the share price will drop below s$4 after XD if it cannot move above 4.20-4.30. All major index stocks have moved except SPH. This could only indicate that funds are not interested in SPH.

The price moves really very slow. Every day only move 1 bid of 2 cents.  But I will continue to hold for my dividend unless the price goes beyond 4.35.
