Dow extends gains, up about 100, after Bernanke says markets appear to be working well; bonds struggle. (more) See www.money.cnn.com

What come down, must goes up, expecting STI up 50 pt

"i really wonder if Singapore live server is tested for this. " Fortunegal

Although in theory, system should be tested to handle ultra high volume, it is probably not possible in practice (how to get so many test orders/feed simultaneously in a test environment?) . Usually what they could do is to simulate high volume and use it to estimate if it could handle a situation like today where there are ultra high volume. To be fair to SGX lah... the people worked real hard with many sleepless nights to put out a live system. Also please do not forget due to the bull market in the past few months, there is an accelerated growth in the numbers of trades.

don't underestimate the sellers, they could be the big boys and hedge funds.

Anyway those who bought shares at low prices see this as the right time to cash out first, they can always buy back once the market show reversal signals.

Buy low sell high. Never go wrong.

Those who buy at STI 2500 to 2800 now sell at STI 3200, they are making money.

not a crash, just a correction only.

market don't go up and down  forever, in between a bull run we will see some small and some big corrections along the way.

before STI reach 4000 points, we shall see STI hover around 2600 to 2900 for some times.

My observation today is that there are still many investors and punters with ready cash flow ability to buy despite the crashes.  I am happy to see that.

smltimer, it's perhaps less of optimism more of logic? Shanghai strongly rebounded today, and since they were the lead cause of the global meltdown, its rise likely precipitates the rise of the regional indices.

Plus if you look at the actual buy/sell vols of some of the blues, there was quite a lot of big buy ups in the afternoon.

Lots of happy shortists at work today tho. could see them all over the price/vol chart. keke.

Seems like most are quite optimistic about tomorrow, hope it turns out this way.

Sporegal, like to ask you, base on Statschip chart, when price goes down with A/D line up, is that divergence? thanks

Good recovery today with Shanghai closing up!

If STI chiongs back to 3200 plus by next week or after, then these past 2 days of correction is a FALSE alarm. (Maybe a drill to prepare for the real one? Heehee!!)

The REAL bloodly correction is still lurking in wait to jump on us. Be cautious cos BBs goes for their long summer holiday after June ....

Above just my opinion .... Trade with care ya!

In mid morning today, I had already sensed something is not right.  I queued to buy a counter at 24 cents, but I saw the "Buy" queue at 23.5 cents, "Sell" queue at 24 cents.  But my trade is still outstanding????  It only got through after about 10 minutes later.

actually I forsee this to happen one day for Spore side if the server can't take the huge load, when I read the news few months back that other country's trading server was down cos it can't take the load. Cos I am in the IT line, i really wonder if Singapore live server is tested for this.

I still advice caution for now. Don't get caught inside the 'bear' trap. Buy selectively. Those counters that have ran up to a ridiculous level better avoid for now.
