hi dinola, thanks for your recommendation. i have a too big portfolio which i have to trim now (but not sure how to execute), just did a count over the weekend, i have a total of closed to 5mil shares in terms of quantity with all counters added up (many are "cheap" stocks), i really need to cut some. i have been thru the bull & bear cycles few times but still did not learn the lesson, a lousy investor.
I agree with jm2212, Casino is the right sector. Furthermore, there is only one casino counter listed, so we got no choice but to buy Genting. The qns now is timing, too bad i got no holding power, so I'll have to come back to this counter 2 yrs later.
jm2212, if u believe in Casino/Entertainment sector, perhaps u can consider companies that are tapping into Macau. eg. Lifebrandz which is opening a Disco in the Casino (i think is Wynn's).
All the best!
I'd always thought that the most sought-after info is whether a stock will go up or down.
Anything else is purely academic...
Attached is a table for reference at present price. In order to have a gain after rights, the price must be above the XRIGHT price. Do feel free to correct any mistake as it will affect all forumers.

Hmm... I guess each has its own views...

End of the day... lets see who is more zhun... This counter might be a good competition to pit ur FA skills here... but pls pls dont attack each other.. we are all here to learn and share.. mistakes make one grow stronger and wiser...
Me not vested....
Cheers,
Anything.

Hey Eastonbay,
Ignore him lah... or ask admin to ban him... crazy dude...
But I find him entertaining though... hahaha....reading his posts makes me laugh sometimes... hehehehe....

Robert: "You are still new, needs to learn more from the wise ones. If not stay away from stocks. "
If the more knowledgeable does not want to share their knowledge, how are the newbies going to learn? Saying up or down isn't any form of teaching. Worse still, they do not pick up anything useful from the 'wise ones' but bad behaviour.
Learn something from other wise ones around like Shplayer, Vic, Ray, Singaporegal etc. Least of all, learn from their humidity.
although i am no supporter of rober and he does not give reasons for his view, however this counter surge to a high of 1.03 just before the right news is announced n now move downwards, typical of buy on rumors and sell on news???
lets analyse, if u hold 50 lots and with 3:5 ration for rights, u need to come up with additional estimated of $27K (assuming price of 0.9 to subsribe for the rights). i believe many investors may not have the fund to pick up the rights and have to resort to selling it away. after ex-rights the share will be increased by more than 50% and if there is no major good news, expect to share to drift downwards...
Absolutely agree with EastenBay.
Robert should back up his arguments with detailed presentation of facts and figures, instead of plain 'SHOUTING'.
This kind of behaviour is worse than a NEWBIE.
In my view, he has nothing better to do, so he irritates serious investors and punters in this forum with his mindless taunts.
Robert. Please get back to facts and figures instead of behaving like a NEWBIE.
A backing up of numbers and facts is just a way to cover up your ignorance in case things go sour. You give facts from A to Z about why Genting will go up (but obviously to me it's going down) so that when later it goes down then you can say, oh because of this n that genting goes down, and I have did my homework, the market is full of unpredictables, u know, just to make you look less silly. Nobody to blame but your own stupidity. It is also how gifted you are to spot a good stock. You are still new, needs to learn more from the wise ones. If not stay away from stocks.
Truely yours
Robert
when will the right issue news be release?
personally my view is
those who have no intention to pick up the rights, sell off now as changes of buying back at lower prices is very high. i believe many people will be selling of their rights entitlement given the huge ration 3:5 and given the large float, the rights may be selling at a discount or the mother share may takes a hit..just my view
iPunter, unfortunately Robert he doesn't back his 'shouting' with grounds or reasons. Why does he think GIL will be down, and why does he defend Creatively fiercely. No mention of techniques he uses. I'll get 50% chance of getting it right by shouting blindly 'up' or 'down'.
Also, unfortunately that the way you wrote your comments about robert has led many to think you are an ardent supporter of such ill-mannered behaviour in this forum. (personally I have nothing against you)
Gondola18... :)
I am not defending Robert, because I don't even know him personally... :)
Although his style of expression is obviously unacceptable to many members,
one should really reflect on the underlying message beneath all the artificial dramatic effects.
To be a good judge of things, one should ideally look at it from the widest possible perspective, without an iota of bias standing in the way. But since this is near impossible, I suppose the next
best thing is to accomodate the widest variety of expression styles.
It reminds me of the old format of "Singapore Idol" contest where the judges were more frank and 'dramatic' and I would say authentic in their expression styles. Unfortunately mass rejection of it had resulted in the 'tame' and uninteresting style later on...

Dilution risk
We estimate that GIL still needs S$1.5bn of equity. This has risen from S$1.4bn previously because the company bought the 25% in Sentosa from Star Cruises at an S$80m premium. If GIL were to raise S$1.5bn at the current market price of S$0.80, the share base would rise by 1,875m shares or 31%, and the DCF valuation would be diluted from $2.08/share to S$1.57/share. We have factored this dilution into our DCF valuation, but not our present earnings forecast, as the exact structure of the financing is still unknown. For example, if convertibles were raised with a higher strike price, the dilution would be lower. Of course, rights issues are usually done at below market. If the rights were priced at 0.70/share, the DCF value would fall to S$1.52/share, and if priced at S$0.60/share, the DCF value would fall to S$1.46/share. However, if it were a straight rights, as opposed to a placement, existing shareholders would also benefit from the rights issue and hence not be impacted by dilution.
