Thanks teeth53 for your advice. It seem short sell and contra are PURE gambling tactics ignoring a stock FA totally.

Now I wonder if another trading model can be formed to satisfy these short sellers? We have CFD for contra players but any new services to satisfy short sellers?

If a similar tool play is available elsewhere for those two groups of ppl, then share trading on SGX becomes a pure genuine investor interest play and win win for all parties isn' it?

This short sell and contra has been ard since the day SGX is born and no one put a stop to these tactics? I believe Unit Trust put a stop to all that with their improvised trading model and I do not see much of short and contra players in UT arena for obvious reasons!

Something like that, but they R = quick to cut lost, they don wait unless they wnated to lost more, shortise short will oso buy back on long to cover their lost knowing px is fast moving up. (short 5 lots - can't buy back at lower px, so buy long 10 lots to sell on contra). just pure gambling.

POEMS will encourage us to play short selling?

Well conputer trading oso won't do if good luck is not with U. many at times computer is to slow or get jammed, then if suddenly if px move up (what U can do to short, u can't keyin for lower px if computer get slow down. oni choice is to buy at a lost unless U R very sure 100% sure px will drop), oni dealers or remisers can do that.

I also discover a loophole in shortist strategy. If the price shoot up instead of down and near closing time they need to cover back and if alot shortist at work the price could shoot up dramatically.

So ppl like us can take this opportunity to unload to them at their expense!!!! It sounds like sweet revenge for us the longtist? :P

To do short selling, one must register a margin account with brokerage firms? I think my broker very straight kind won't encourage me to do shorting then how? POEMS will encourage us to play short selling?

Then oni shortise win (short low, buy back back lower). Not advisable to do shorting unless U know px is 100% coming down...

Hi Sohguanh,

Truthly, well said. when px drop to say to $1.46, then suddenly px move up say by 1, 2 or even 3 cents, now it is trading at 5cents, so shortise mati liao, shortise will have to cover back in double quick time.

Let me try to understand.
Short sell 1 lot at $1.46
Then must buy back that 1 lot < 1.46 so let's say at 1.45 so difference is $10 ? So if short 10 lots difference is $100?

How does that benefit short sellers? They only get to buy the shares at earlier pricing?

So thereotically if after shorting the price shot above 1.46 then muz buy back at higher price?

Not the mkt closing price, px lower then shorted px eg $1.46c (Short at 1 lot, then one lot shorted - must buy back lower then $1.45c to cover back the short supply script) but at oni one lot different, it don make sense, maybe 5 or 10 lot make sense, co's of sell/buy commis.. or unless BBs is holding not enough share and wanted to buy badly.....at lower px, again say below certain px. hope it help.

Best Regards

Just to sidetrack but how does short selling works? Can give an example? Short selling means you don't have shares on hand but you do a sell correct? Then at the end of the day you MUST buy back the earlier lots you sell correct? So the buy back price is the market closing price?

Any example will be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi all to potiential shortise,

For today, at $1.44c. U can't really do a short, the lowest as U can See is $1.46c (done 17x with oni 154 lots traded). In fact those doing a short say at 1.50c will have to buy back now at $1.51c, so beware those BBs is watching, just mt tot.

It is now over 1.50 seem those lots sold at 1.40 - 1.50 has been snapped up. Now I wonder how many ppl lose monies due to contra play for the first day buy in at 1.40 - 1.50 ?

IndoFood is also rising up again but the drop is more drastic so now recovery is we hope is fast.

I am a genuine investor. I neber short sell or contra before in my whole life playing shares. Others can play and I just cope with it. Maybe it is that 'no seed' mindset in me hahahahahaa.....
