I think whether you believe in astrology or not, earthly events and occurrences do have correspondences and subtle influences on an invisible level. So there is bound to be some 'effect',  maybe not too significant,  when something out of the routine takes place, 'Bush Effect' may be an example. :)

STI climbs ..... but many counters look lethargic already ..... probably at a level where risk outweighs reward .....

To maximise or play safe ?

Thk yahh.. JongJiu for posting two China-based companies, one of them has seen to be tranforming itself on it road to recovery. Biotreat is no longer retreating for now, px has gone form a low of 48c, now trading at near 58c, my good guess is STI will be inches up to test new high 2,800 marks, in between there'll be as usual some profit taking along d way.

Many are already switching off and are busy preparing for a really merry and meaningful Christmas after the good run-up, especially the property counters...

Think roast turkeys, wine and presents galore!!!  :)

October blues extending into November?

I just think that the market is exhausted after a good run in September and October. Need a little break before moving again.

Recent scandals at two China-based companies
listed in Singapore are "pimples" on the market rather than major disasters and haven't affected investor sentiment, said the exchange's chief executive, Hsieh Fu Hua.

With a small domestic market, the exchange has looked overseas to attract new companies and China-based businesses make up about half of all new listings. But it has not been immune from scandal, with China Aviation Oil (Singapore) Pte Ltd. a high profile casualty after being brought to the brink of collapse in 2004 on $550 million of derivatives trading losses.

More recently, China Food Industries Ltd. has been in the headlines after auditors uncovered fictitious invoices and inventories at the Chinese pig farm and abattoir operator that resulted in overstated
profits. Water treatment company Bio-Treat Technology Ltd. has also been embroiled in controversy after reporting a shock fourth-quarter loss in late August.
