shplayer is right.
Load Factor is important. Especially for budget airlines. Because the budget airlines' fare is so cheap, they need to maintain high load factor in order to break even.
SIA CEO, in a recent interview, said that annual divident of $1.00 (FY08 - int div 20c; final div 80c) is sustainable.
For FY08, the eps was 168.5c and NAV $12.77.
Oil price is definately a factor in SIA's future earnings but so far, they have managed it as well as can be expected.
Besides oil price, the other factor to look out for is the Load Factor (LF), found in the monthly operating data which SIA publishes. If this falls more than the increase in load capacity, then it will affect SIA's ability to capitalise on 'economies of scale' as it expands.....which in turn will have negative impact on its bottomline.

what does one-tier tax mean?
dividend of 0.8c one-tier tax => does that mean I will receive exactly $800, or ($800 less 18% tax = $656)?
wa.. you sound like buying a lot of shares recently... should buy low mah...
yeah, with dividend 0.8 in august, price of 15.4 now... the yield is 5.2%, damn good lo... but again, as long as oil price maintain at high level, this will keep draining down... have to watch out...

Its OPEC... not OBEC

OPEC claimed that the CO hike were due to speculation and not supply and demand issue, hence they refused to incrased output. Henceforth, to stop speculation on CO, stop future trading on CO for 22 days could be viable to ease the price and make OBEC bang balls. Wild idea only lah.
Fuel is a major component of an airline's overall cost.
The surging fuel prices has got to hurt a lot.
any chance lower again??? CO is up up up....................
according to 'analyst', ST is the lowest in 4 month, up side coming??
Thanks for the clarification, EastonBay.
Aiyo, I've email him tat I paid already, but never ask him to increase the limit..
Hmm, how low SIA wanna go..
