Not surprising because even some financial institutions do not allow their staff to play shares. Last time my broker told me he was not allowed to play shares also, don't know if that was true.
However, by threatening to sack even if caught off-duty playing shares can be a bit undemocratic. We have a democracy mindset or not? If not, then I think your boss ok. LOL.

I recently saw my boss put up a poster which say no staff is allowed to invest or play Singapore Stocks during office hours or off duty hours. I am wondering why. Any good or understanding person can explain his action? I can't think of any reason he should do this. |

He don't invest in stocks or commodities. Many years ago he lost a big fortune in stocks, gold and commodities. Now he hates stocks and all form of what he called "speculative investments".

Because he lost money in the stock market and he doesn't want you to be richer than him? :)

I think he scared the staff became too engrossed, lose money and no heart to work. Win happy, lose no mood for work. He is doing if for everybody's good, I supposed. |

A new breakthrough in boxing history...
Pacman -The greatest boxing phenomenon since Mike Tyson...
Before Manny Pacquioa came on the scene Mike Tyson was the real previous breakthrough...
Mike's power punch is one no one can match in his days (but sad it's all over by his own doing)...
Now Pacquioa's breakthrough is in high speed and efficient use of multiple punches.
His standard makes all previous boxing (except Tyson) seem tame.
I will bet he will easily whack the light out of big Floyd Mayweather when they fight next...

You must be joking!...
You should be saying trading stocks is no fun for you...
That is simply because for you, the stocks market is always on the way up...
and any fall is but a 'dip'... because of this many are "pok" or break-even ...
hence the disinterest...
But in reality, the stock market is a beautiful beast... hehehe...

Trading stocks is less fun nowadays, it seems. And many good forumers are missing from Sharejunction, don't know why? I am frankly less addicted to read forum postings these days. Not interesting anymore when major writers are absent. |

Take your mind back to recent 2007....
When the market was bellowing it's heart out...
At that time, long-winded opinion posts appear daily and with great regularity here...
But since that time, and till March 2009 the market had fallen,
ever so slowly and gradually, day buy day, until most people you meet are fed with or scared of stocks...
I believe many people are "pok", and hugely, by the end of that period...
In reality, it is not easy to experience 'long-term investment', as is commonly and frequently professed...

This is normal when the market is slow. Nothing to talk about.

Some parts of the world are indeed becoming more silly by the day...
What's the practical purpose of such a frivolous idea? It's not even cool for novelty effect...
How about creating an affordable torpedo shark-proof and whale-proof and jelly-fish-proof cruiser instead?
Or an anti-gravity vessel to take a 'busload' of people to that space hotel ? ...

What it's like to… drive a car underwater. Thu Oct 29 19:58 by
Ben Pulman
This may look like a Lotus Elise sinking to a watery grave, but it's actually a fully working underwater car and we've, er, dived in it
This wasn't a good idea. I'm sitting in an electric Lotus Elise that's semi-submerged in the middle of Lake Zurich, and we're about to dive. If I don't get frazzled then I'll probably drown. Maybe both – I'll be the world's first deep-fried journalist in the world's first underwater car. Welcome to the Rinspeed sQuba. And did I mention it's worth a million quid?
