Won contract worth RMB530 million
What puzzles me is that there are many out there who cannot resist the temptation and sell at the slightest sign of correction, then regret later and re-enter at a much higher price. To those who are undecided to sell or not to sell, let's put things in perpective again:
1) COSCO has STRONG CASH POSITION AND EVEN STRONGER GOVT BACKING. IT WILL NOT COLLAPSE ANYTIME.
2) COSCO has SUPERB ABILITY to pull off COMPLEX PROJECTS like the SEVAN DRILLER. IT HAS DEMONSTRATED ITS ABILITY SO WELL that the SEVAN DRILLER 2 is awarded as a TURNKEY EPCI CONTRACT at US$500M+, instead of the US$170M it got for SEVAN Driller to build the hull. Not to mention that SEVAN Driller design uses cutting edge technology and those who are in the oil rig industry will know, it has EVERY POTENTIAL to beat other types of oil rigs like jack-ups, semi-submersibles, drill ships, you name it. It is the ONLY COMPANY in the world who has built a SEVAN DRILLER and so if the driller does take off well (which in all possibility it will), ALL NEW ORDERS WILL COME TO COSCO and ONLY COSCO!! Who would entrust such complex and expensive project to any off-shore engineering company other than the one who has proven its ability?
3) CHINESE GOVT has announced sometime back in 2008 that it wants to establish CHINA as the WORLD-RENOWNED PLAYER in off-shore marine sector, and COSCO will be its means to achieve this goal. With its sheer size and potential, it's only a matter of time that CHINA WILL BEAT the current leaders like SINGAPORE & S. KOREA!! COSCO will be the new KEPPEL known to the world...
Best of all, its current market cap is only less than S$4B....
So let's see.... anybody still tempted to sell at $1.70? $2? $3??
Of course, I may be sound too optimistic, and I'm really interested to hear some differing views. Let this forum be a place for rigorous debate!
$2.00 I think still possible in mid term. $3.95 .... kinda hard

The fireworks is far from over... Temasek bought a small stake on 8 April 2010.
Of course, there will be intermittent profit taking along the way, which is viewed as healthy.
Vested interest.
Not so fast lah. This laggard is going to at least 2.50. So keep smiling....

0338 GMT [Dow Jones] Singapore-listed shipbuilders rally as investors revisit laggards in marine sector. Cosco (F83.SG) +6.6% at S$1.61, JES International (EG0.SG) +11.1% at S$0.20, both on substantial volumes. "Investors are looking for laggard plays in the sector," says analyst at local brokerage. Notes Cosco has been consolidating at S$1.10-S$1.30 for about a year, while other marine stocks have been moving up; "naturally, attention will gyrate to those that haven't moved as much." Adds sentiment backed by Cosco's recent win of US$500 million contract to build rig for Sevan Drilling. Newsflow for JES has been thin since release of 4Q09 results in February, when shipbuilder turned in wider loss of CNY60.4 million vs CNY44.0 million loss year earlier, but improving sentiment on marine sector appears to be rubbing off on stock now. Orderbook quotes tip resistance for Cosco at S$1.65, for JES at S$0.21. Yangzijiang (BS6.SG) halted pending announcement; traders say China-based shipbuilder may announce plans for dual listing in HK or Taiwan, idea mooted by management in past results briefings. Beware, guys. There's an old saying: Buy on anticipation, sell on news.
When the good news come out...I think strong change of sinking like a rock. All the gains have already been factored in.
