Hi Eddy, absolutely agree with U. Prior to buying into this counter (I'm still holding few pathetic lots only), I did a search on Genting Msia. I was overwhelmed by the SG-IR effects on the Genting Msia (read carefully on the 'before' and 'after' IR-SG was announced and the stock split on Apr07). I'm not a TA nor FA, so I dun know why the stock split but fascinated by the price. Again, I'm only reading from laymen terms...

I dont know if Genting-SG will follow the same path in 20-30yrs down the road, but I dont forsee how SG-IR will fail... anyway, I'm going for long long term... wish i hv more ammour to buy more now... or wait for the issues rights to buy more

Hi ing1103, Let me give an account why I am so optimistic about Genting?s earnings.I have frequently travel to Genting highland & lost everytime I played there but still I want to travel up there just to enjoy the thrill. Many times I have experience people coming to me just to beg a few dollars for their bus fare home. On a week day, suppose to be a working day but the casino inside is pact & many uncle & unties are all loaded up just to have the thrill they wanted .In another word, this is a sin stock & it is a money making machine. Would you like to own a part of Singapore pool?

Hi ing1103, as we share the same view, I would like to point out that the right issue will definitely affect the share price but it depends on the supply & demand. As the dilution is too great (5:3)it is 60% of it?s EPS & many investors would not welcome it nor are they willing to fork out another large sum of money on what they are holding. On the other hand, there will be rich billionaire investors eyeing on it?s share price & they don?t give a damn on what they pay for it as long as they own what they like. Look at Stanley Ho or that Chua who are interested in Star cruise, do you think they are not interested in Genting? Yes, it is now at this point of time not good to buy yet but we should grab the opportunity to buy as low as possible inorder to have the best return but don?t forget to get out when things is not rosy.

you are absolutely rite, uncle forever, the price would certainly be not the same.... but we can decide then with more assurance of where it is heading if we dont have to wait so long... if as jing1103 and Eddyson says it would double in price at yr end 2008, then I think even a stock like GemTv (currently 65cts and double means 1.30) may give you better returns.

meanwhile what is to prevent other countries from having a more jazzy IR?  Also, I think the fact that the Genting IR is only coming on stream after the Marina Bay Las Vegas Sands Corporation (?Sands?) IR, it is not really the first casino for Singapore etc

btw, bottom line.. I not vested becos I chinkiasu... perhaps if the price drop to 80cts in the meantime, I can of cos seriously consider...

Hi Eddy, yes i have the same mentality. It's meant for long term, may be 10-20yrs. I expect this counter to hit $1.75-$1.90 when the licence is issued to Genting. Good to accumulate but it will be long term... not sure if the issues rights will affect the price... any comment?

Intergrated Resort will be completed by end of yr 2009, when the resort is half way completed, the gaming licence will be issued to Genting provided nothing happens. At this time, it should be yr end 2008 which is next yr & part of the casino should be already generating cash flow by early 2009.As previously highlighted by Macquire Bank, when the casino is up & running, revenue should hit 1 billion for the 1st yr which is a bit conservative & share price at that time should be $1.57 exccluding any dilution.Base on Singaporean's mentality, which is kiasu, kiasi & kaiball, the stock should be shooting when the licence is issued.Just look at during the Hello kitty trend, die die also must have,Apparently, those having a long term plan should accumulate at this point of time when there is a downtrend but at which price is up to individual to guess. Is it now, after the right issue or during a major correction, is like guessing big or small or never to play at all..My guess is it will  reach $2, considering it is an index stock & the only multi casino in south east asia.

i guess you folks may be rite about long term prospects.. but in the meanwhile I think there are better stocks elsewhere where for your ROI it certainly would be much better.....  I will only consider buying when I see the IR up and ready... meanwhile it certainly not going to make money when there isnt any gamblers around to spend the big bucks....

Please do not estimate casino business, the ROI period is high and within short period to breakeven. If the casino business is not viable, do you think sgx will allow genting to issue right issues to raise money? Chances of our IR projects failure is very slim, if it fail, I think the our country name is affected. Buy more share to entitle more right issue.

National day coming, genting is a national IR project. If the share keep falling, they will have problem to raise the money via the right issues. I think someone will push it up so the right issue price will goes up accordingly. I think many BB is eying the counter, the only way for this share to move is up.

Thanks for the advice Investment.  Actually, I am pretty positive on the longer term prospects of Genting Intl, and think its value will show itself over time - after it rides out this period of volatility due to the impending rights issue. In addition to being a casino/gaming counter, its also a hotel, tourism, retail, entertainment and lifestyle play - seeing how all these elements will be present in the Sentosa resort. Also, I went to Osaka Universal Studios and Tokyo Disney recently, and frankly I wouldn't mind visiting a Universal park (aka Universal Singapore) more than once a year for the thrills and the rides can be refreshed, but wouldn't go to another Disney again.. too kiddish, dated and saccharine sweet.. =)

currently comfortdelgro and smrt are still bid for operate for it ,i see high chances for smrt, even though if smrt does not shortlisted,it expect ridership in spore operation to keep increase,as investor are price in the factor over in the high ridership in spore, secondly if they been shortlisted to opetate mrt in dubai sure the prices will be better

Hi Investment

Sorry to come into this thread to ask you about SMRT.

Wouldn't SMRT share price go down even further if they don't get to operate dubai mrt system? If they do get the contract den their share price will likely be on up trend.

what do you think SMRT chances of getting the dubai contract? Thanks in advance.

Am a newbie to this forum.  Would be grateful if anyone can recall the tenure/lease period for GIL's lease of the Sentosa IR site? is it 60 years or 99 years? I've tried checking various websites, but can't find any answers.  Reason being that I recall the company paying a relatively paltry $600m figure(?) for the cost of this 49 ha site last year, when of course land values have since escalated drastically.  Am not sure if there is a time bar of GIL selling the Sentosa IR, though I'd expected that the commitment period should at least be for 10 years... factors into the valuation price I would surmise..
