One surprise observation was that most penny stocks below the price of 10 cents aren't really affected at all, any clue ?

Don't worry too much about it. Just sit back and observe what happens at the last 30 mins.

There is a MACD positive divergence today. More or less can expect STI to rebound.

Hi Newbie2007,

Three observations thus far indicate likely consolidation:

1. Total trading volume - it's only abt 1300m shares traded as of now with 2 hrs left to close. Much lower than the mid-day volumes seen earlier in the week.

2. STI is basically not making very big moves from 11am onwards. Stabilising at lowest pt of 3737-3745.

3. The intraday candlesticks are showing very small bodies and wicks - i.e. not much trading activity.

It will be relatively quiet today, perhaps a bit of spike up near the last 30 mins due to short covering.

Google beats Street, revenue up 57%

Internet search and advertising giant reports strong increase in sales and profits that surpass estimates but stock is flat after hours.

By Paul R. La Monica, CNNMoney.com editor at large

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Google, the world's leading Internet search company, reported strong growth in sales and profits that beat Wall Street's estimates, a further sign of Google's dominance in the lucrative online advertising market.

Shares of Google (Charts, Fortune 500), which initially fell in after hours trading following the earnings release, bounced back and gained more than 1 percent. Still, the less than euphoric reaction may be an indication that Wall Street was expecting the company to report even better third quarter results than it did. The stock, which has surged nearly 40 percent so far this year, rose about 1 percent in regular trading on the Nasdaq Thursday.
