If you look at SPC's chart pattern and compare the period from the first week of september vs the current pattern from the beginning of January, the pattern is eerily similar and both look obviously bullish.

But the September pattern turned out to be the start of another bout of downslide over the next few months. So with the benefit of this insight, investors and traders alike should tread with extreme caution, though this time round, the flood of foreign money may turn the tide otherwise.

Thank you Victorian, for your  very insightful post too.

Agree with you... better than making unnecessary films like that one he  intends to... in which he uses an ugly actor to play a handsome young man.

Higher high, higher low. indicator shows with room to extend further :)   Looks like the bulls are winning...

Heng Heng..
[15:30 US TECHS: Commodities Outlook; Gold and Oil] Boston, January 23. The
tendency in [gold] to stay closer to the upper end of its long-term triangle in
place since May/June extremes were set has given the market a more bullish
outlook. 200-day moving averages held a test at the start of the year, and
converging 40-and 50-day averages just above $631 were closed above last Friday
and on Monday. Today"s bullish action has slightly broken past Dec 1-Jan 3
downtrends. Prices are in side weekly resistance at $642-45; larger monthly
targets on a firm breakout are $652.50-660. Intraday supports are at $642.50
and $639.50, both gradually rising.
The rise in [oil] (now tracking March futures) could lead to a bullish view
on daily trend models as soon as today. Trend Intensity, a separate model and
one which is not as quick to be triggered, is still bearish. The market has
barely broken out of inside week structure, and weekly resistance starting near
$54.90-55.60 has not yet been probed. This band overlapps $55, a key reference
level on nearest futures charts. By way of follow up, the retest last week of
all-time oversold readings from 1986 on certain momentum studies has seen a
small bounce as the sell off has waned. The upturn since has been quite minor
relative to the broad move down, and rather than call this an absolute bottom,
chances of at least one more new low should not be underestimated.
