The low for today was $2.85. It recovered back by more than 20 cents to $3.08 on a day when most counters were down. Any news?

standing strong at support point 3.12, woohooo... results must be good, coming !!!

usually, when the results announced, then you enter the counter, it is too late, one typical example is FJBenjamin, people buy after results annocuned, which is 0.845, but, one day before result announced only 0.72-0.76...

good luck !

Quick recap, 3Q net profit increased 29.1%

9 months ended net profit increased 26.8%

so, the whole year net profit will be in the range from 20-30%, should be in-line with expectation, anything beyond is a plus.

you are 100% right, but provided the trading atmophere is above average.. don't meet the August 17th again. Else, even profit 500% also drop.

Deutsche Bank said in a research note that Olam would benefit from increasing demand for agricultural products.

"Near term, the cost of borrowing could rise, which could lower Olam's deal appetite (not entirely bad) and cost of holding inventories," Deutsche Bank analyst Pyari Madhava Menon added in the note.

"We would use any stock weakness on these perceived risks as a buying opportunity."

Reason:

Shares of commodities firm Olam International (OLAM.SI: QuoteProfile , Research) rose as much as 4.1 percent to S$2.80 with 1.4 million shares traded after Deutsche Bank changed its rating on the stock to "buy" from "sell" and raised the 12-month price target to S$3.10 from S$3.

I have bought Olam a long time ago and it has disappointed me greatly..Do you know why like that..It has dropped to a day low of 2.99 and now it is 3.02 at 12 noon..U know any reason why..The market is starting to pick up its feet after the heavy drop last week but Olam is still in the swimming pool though i think..It needs a heavy float b4 it can get out of the swimming pool..Smiley

buy on dip for olam? olam has been in the trenches for 2 months now, THAT'S the dip.  remember that this counter peaked at 4.10 this year.  wobbled around the 3.60s, 3.48s,

THIS IS THE DIP!

Though it might be just a rumour but with a sudden price hike on high volume, this can be a strong indication that something good is brewing for olam. Yap, with dow down on fri sti might be down as well. Thus I recommend buy on dip.

Anyway, look at UBS view on Olam.

DJ MARKET TALK: May Be Time To Switch To Olam

0625 GMT [Dow Jones] STOCK CALL: Given Wilmar International''s (F34.SG) recent outperformance to Olam (O32.SG), it may be time to switch to latter in overall soft commodities space near term, according to UBS Gaurang Bhatia. Still believes Wilmar could deliver growth in areas such as flour and sugar manufacturing or via acquisitions, something which has not been fully priced into the stock. UBS retains Buy rating, S$3.85 target price on Wilmar, no rating given on Olam.

Thanks for the information guys..It is only a rumuor right of another acquisition of the cheese coy? Did it come out in the papers? Do you guys know when their annual report will be out? I agree that this stock has potiential but the market is not doing well with the Dow closing at almost down 150 points and the US Stock market was down the whole of Friday due to coporate earnings and subprime concerns. Could it survive the rising trend for next week or will it nosedive back to its usual 3.0+ to 3.1+ price or otherwise will the STI be down next week? hmmm.....
