Its Friday and the 1st day of a new month December .... Profit taking again or buying-in today with US market FLAT last nite?
My take is the latter with a new record close to jump-start Christmas cheers! :)
STI looks toppish currently with divergence of RSI and a few indicators. becareful. May like to consider reducing ur portfolio size for equities. Now the main counters should be utilities / REit / property and Big Dividend payout Blue chip counters. Investors dun like uncertainty and many would move to safer counters.
The Singapore Exchange plans to relaunch its key Straits Times Index and introduce a new family of indices in 2007 to be used as investor benchmarks for the local stock market.
The SGX, Asia's third-largest listed bourse, said in a statement on Thursday it had reached an agreement with British index firm FTSE Group and Singapore Press Holdings to create several indices for the Singapore market. FTSE Group is jointly owned by the Financial Times and the London Stock Exchange.
The expanded series will be used for trading and benchmarking of financial products such as institutional and retail funds, exchange traded funds and derivatives.
The Straits Times Index is a value-weighted and free-float adjusted index. The companies included in the index have a combined market value of around US$234 billion. It replaced the Straits Times Industrials Index in 1998. It was designed by Singapore Press Holdings and is being calculated in real-time by the SGX.

Mr Bull is the driver now, but he also need to take a break, so correction come but Mr Bull return pretty soon and take over the seat again.
However, some counters do still have the characteristics that can be observed from TA.

i hardly do TA on STI now as TA is pretty rendered useless, the better technical indicator will be the DOW. By Right, STI is suppose to Correct long ago. by left leh....
It is just like the Forex market now. TA is pretty useless since Oct. Fundemental news and stats overides TA.

STI's record high was 2840.94 just this Monday! Should close another record high today with US rally last nite ... Its the last day of shiok November today!
US's bullish Q3 GDP data just out is a strong positive push for a rally in US tonite - after a flat closing yesterday.
Let's see the other US data to be out at 2300hrs later.
As for STI, I guess it rallied back to where it is supposed to be at today after yesterday's huge profit taking. With the Sentosa IR award coming in next 2 weeks (latest), STI should have another reason to play up in December?
Agree with you... may correct tommorow. But what ever happens will depend much on the Dow tonight.
If only penny stocks are rising fast, then I think it may not be sustainable. Tommorow could be a bearish day.
