Singapore is hot on its heels to become the world’s No. 2 gaming market next year, a report says.

According to a new report, the Government stands to gain a substantial S$1.38 billion from taxes, duties and levies from both integrated resorts (IRs) this year.

The figure is set to hit S$2.16 billion next year as the IRs ramp up operations to push Singapore past Las Vegas as the world’s second largest gaming market, said Dr Chua Hak Bin, director of global research at Bank of America-Merrill Lynch on The Straits Times.

This may even help the Government turn a projected fiscal deficit of roughly S$2.96 billion this year into a small surplus, Mr Chua said in the report. The figures include revenue from IR-related growth such as tourism.

The strong showing at both Marina Bay Sands (MBS) and Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) has exceeded even the most optimistic of projections for growth.

Admit defeat. cut loss at 0.43. bought 0.48. Wait for tide to clear before jumping in. Good luck all.
