just look at today closing
When G13 was red-hot ( 2 week ago), last trade of the day was always between 2500-4000 lots. I don't imply G13 volume drops. Just that BIG FISH does not pay full attention here.
Think BIG FISH are happily SHOPPING in discounted China and HK markets now. ciaos

Although I largely agree in principle with Sifu Pharoah 's 'coin flip' notion,
I am an ardent chartist myself. And without the charts,
I am totally unable to function as a trader/investor ( I am both).
I won't call that TA, though...
because it is just simple charting which I do.
But a chart is just a chart... it's only a map of past prices and transactions.
Like I always say, no one knows the trend, until after the event.
in other words, trend cannot be predicted, but only observed as it occurs.
If this were not so, any serious fund manager can simply 'whack'
all available money at their disposal on their bets...

Almost 150% gain.in within 10 mths. It went on profit taking to closed of at $2.04cents. (look like is going to revisit below $2/-)
Captial gain (Yes) agree, after all they have to pay off their huge $6.5b debt to creditors for an agreement of no dividend is agreed upon
before considering to pay dividend to share holders |

HONG KONG, Nov 22 (Reuters) - China swap rates rose to a two year high on Monday after the central bank on Friday increased banks' reserve requirements for the second time in as many weeks, reflecting views a rate hike may still be in the offing. http://business.asiaone.com/Business/News/Story/A1Story20101122-248531.html
HONG KONG (Dow Jones)--Hong Kong shares ended lower Monday led by property developers after the government took additional measures to cool the red-hot real-estate market, and Chinese banks following Beijing's latest monetary policy tightening and concerns about interest rate hikes.

G13 did not go up today. It may be due to Hsbc rating (over weight). The report was quoted on Sunday, Business Week. I read that report while laughing (don't know how old is that analyst ??!!)
Funny “points” on that article:
A) Gaming industry in South east Asia is young. Erh... I went Star cruise since sec 4.(more than 13 yrs) The cruise is just getting more packed every year. My aunties always went to VIP room (one night UP/DOWN can b more than 30k)
Macau 1st Casino was opened in 1937. (Tai Sin) . In 1998, 44.5% of total government revenue was produced by the direct tax on gambling.
P.S> The citizen of Macau does NOT need to pay for medicine fee when they visit government clinic. All the expenses are covered by the tax from CASINOs.
So tell me...how on earth this writer can imply casino is a risky business?! If this writer ever studies probabilities (odd) from sec 4 maths or JC H1/H2 or F.Maths? He/She should know the odds of banker go bankrupt is almost ZERO!
B) Asia economy is not stable. Erh...this writer never read up the GDP of China n India...the growth rate are 10% and 8% for Y10Q3. Yes, China is affected by QE2. But the growth rate will not decrease dramatically.
P.S> Indian like gambling too! They fill up the Star Cruise and RWS. If you don’t visit Star Cruise or RWS, look at the Singapore Pool at weekend.

C) Lastly, I would like to say all these analysts have the best pay job, analysing without look at the depth of the market and nature of business. Above comments are just to share my view. In the end of day, the share price Up or Down, is still controlled by BIG FISH out there!
It is not a BUY or SELL call.
(but tmr, seems a weak UP in the morning or before noon to me.) |

i beg to differ.. whilst it is true that you need price direction movement and that is almost the fundamental of techie ( no pun intended). Do you think analyst and bb's dun use teching ? What you are doing for teching is not to predict for indeed no one should believe he can predict the nature of the beast... However, what teching does for you in that aspect is to understand what the bb's see and how they enter as well... and on top of that.. bb's do indeed use teching and analyst software to enter/exit the market.. go ask a bb worker..
What you are doing is to try and understand the market for signals. And that signals can be found in teching.. if you have better alternatives to try and track the movement other then teching.. please do share..
Other then that.. if you are a fundamental person and the company's fundamental means more to you .. then you are an investor not a trader/speculator. THe word SPECULATOR does not have negative connotations. It basically means people who enter and exit the market fast base on the trends. You have to get that definition right... and follow what you methods suits you best.. of course the best traders are those that has the ability to FA and TA .. and merge them into one. and that is why bb's hire Investment bankers as well as traders ... and analyst.. one do report down to minute details.. the other see wave pattern...
If you are saying TA is wrong and stochastics and bollingerband is a scam .. then try telling that to the millions of people talking finance or econs.. who base their livelihood on charts and patterns.. and tell that to Jesse Livermore :)
There is no fundamentally RIGHT or WRONG answer.. however, by phrasing it in such a way as did pharoah , making sweeping statements without justifying nor arguing both sides of the coins.. in effect.. why not just don't make that statement or toss that coin.. until you can prove it... I'm not here to make enemies.. i just would appreciate sweeping statements such as those ... who insults techies ... as merely equating it to luck and flipping a coin.. is pretty f**ked up don't you think? I'm a techie.. it makes money for me.. so does FA.... so i don't really care about what others say cause the money is going into my bank account using teching.. but if you wanna slam other people's way of trading.. i suggest you think it through first and be able to justify / comment on arguments rather than making such a statement.
Of course there's a free-will and a freedom of speech... And that is why i have to strongly speak out and disagree with whatever he is saying... Nothing against his online persona or character.. just expect more from a SUPREME member who has a million and one post .. rather then something that my 12 years old cousin would say...
Also, with regards to your saying that the indicator does not lead and it lags... because it only shows yesterday/years direction.. that is where TRENDING comes in.. Knowing that it is bottoming out... it becomes a LEADER because you know that after this .. it will rise base on historical data. Is that not a leading direction signal? It is only people who refuse to believe in teching that are handicapped by it.. my question to you is this.. rather than slamming teching, why not try to understand teching and see how you can incorporate it into your trading? I'm not saying give up what makes you money.. all i'm saying is .. keep an open mind and learn .. because BB's as well as people .. great people like jesse livermore and other investors has been successful with teching..
Who are you to say it is wrong/ flipping a coin?
