The compnay recent Q1 result shown the the eaning per share is RMB 0.0757 or about 1.48c. It does not take into account some transactions deals which ll be carry fwd to Q2. The company also bought a plot of commercial land for their own hotel development. They are doing well indeed. This could be the reason why their major shareholders have been picking up more shares recently at $0.21 to $0.225 level.

At NTA of RMB3.308, it is actually 64c or 50.5c more than the current price of 13.5c. As pointed out, this price is almost whopping 70c below its IPO 83c !

For a profitable company like CNT "operating like Singapore JTC", i thought its current price is way below its fair value and a good entry point.

Within 7 months, this counter has been discounted 82% from its IPO of $0.83. Last month, there were shares bought in by its director at $0.20+ per share. Last week, CNT also proposed buyback of its convertible bonds. At current price of $0.15 per share, it looks rather attractive. Maybe it's time for Great Singapore Sales.

I am not sure when the details will be out, but I will expect it in a month's time, since that is generally the time frame between any annoucements and the proposed action. As for the fall in price, I disagree that it is due to mass market sentiments. For the high caps shares, especially those with direct links to the price of oil, like those in the aviation industry, fall in prices can be directly accounted for by mass market sentiments. However, CNT is one share that should be benefitting from the earthquake, from the proposed rights buyback, and the appreciating Yuan. I may be speculating here, but I suspect that shortist target this stock because of it's low trading volume (which allows for manipulation), low cost (which allows for huge gain per small price movements), familarity with the moving patterns of this stock (it has fallen from it's 80cents IPO). Will the stock fall further? The directors are not doing much at the moment to buy back the shares. But not too long ago, there was a brief buy in of the share at 20+cents by 1 of the directors. Also, note that the share has fallen 25% in the last 1 month. Even if you are a hard core shortist, u must have guts of steel to short this counter in the large numbers that you have been accustomed to. Also, note that the company is cash rich, which explains it's decision to buy back the rights. If you know what you are doing, you will know that TA don't really apply to stocks trading on thin volume, and FA wise, this company has good fundamentals. Even if the share price falls, there will be a bottom, below which a takeover will be imminent, which will then push prices back up.

not really. ppl sell cos they want to protect either thier profit or their principle. now market sentiment not good. honk konh, japan, eupore are dropping. dow jones can up 50 to 80 points but when drop, it's 200 to even more than 400 point. fear is human nature when come to this moment..

I also agree on the part that shortist are at work for this counter. Have been monitoring this counter, every buy ups with be followed a sell down. Seems deliberately keeping it low. Don't be surprise if rebound when shortist goes into action to cover back.

And roughly when will details for the rights buy back be finalised?

q10activator      ( Date: 19-Jun-2008 23:16) Posted:

It is only falling because ppl are shorting it in large quantities such that a small movement will illicit a large gain. Becareful not to burn your hands. chinanewtown shld be looking up once details for the rights buy back is finalised, By then, shortist will return all their ill gotten gains.
