SATS Q1 earnings up 17% |
|
Mainboard-listed, Singapore Airport Terminal Services, says its first quarter net earnings rose 17.1 percent to 40.4 million dollars.
Revenue jumped 44.1 percent to 351.7 million dollars for three months ended June.
SATS says the revenue increase was mainly due to the addition of Singapore Food Industries, which it acquired in March this year.
SATS saw lower aviation revenue in the quarter due the weak aviation industry.
In view of the challenging operating environment, the firm says it continued with its cost management measures during the period.
Looking ahead, SATS President and CEO Clement Woon says the addition of Singapore Food Industries will contribute positively to the firm's performance.
"We've started the full integration process since April, we've identified so far cost savings of about 6.5 million per annum. The cost savings realised today is greater than 2.6 million per annum. Initial areas identified for synergies include bakery, butchery, vegetables and fruit processing operation, procurement, commonalities of purchase materials."
But Mr Woon says demand in the aviation sector remains soft despite emerging signs of economic recovery.

cheong arh! test 2.3!
Testing $2.20 again.... Let's hope it break this time round. Cheers to those vested!
Not vested.. Just for sharing from The Edge..
Kim Eng Research in a June 29 research report says: "SATS is on the
verge of becoming an Integrated Resort play, with the future
opportunity to supply meals to the Marina Bay and Sentosa casinos.
Also, it can potentially unlock 20 cents per share in value from
properties that are still held at book value.
"SATS has in its balance sheet $460.8 million of properties that are
held at historical cost (the two inflight catering centres and six
airfreight terminals that it uses to prepare airline meals and handle
freight). We upgrade our target price to $2.51, based on 16x FY2010F
earnings. We have pegged a higher P/E in view of the potential earnings
boost from IR-related contract wins. Our FY2010-2012 forecasts
currently do not factor in these contract wins. MAINTAIN BUY."

Kim Eng just upgrade it to buy with a target price of $2.51.
