Anyone observed the trading pattern for STX today - many 1 lot sell and buy.... trying to short it?

nono, sifu yiming

i am not predicting whether it will go up or down..

i just wanna cautious everyone tat a stock/company might have good fundamentals and potential... but how do u know the current price is cheap or expensive ?

it's like we all know singapore pool is a sure win company, if it's gonna sell its shares at $100 per share, is it too expensive or cheap?

Stockmarket is interesting because a stock's price and fundamental looks very closely related but if you think again they are not that closely related..

cause a price that you think is cheap... might be expensive to others..

eventually, everything goes back to demand/supply and even more interestingly.. this funny demand/supply thing changes so fast that today you think $2 is cheap but if a stock shoots up to $20 the next week, you will think $10 is cheap by then...

i am not advocating ppl should buy or sell.. nowadays i dont even intend to make a fortune from the market because the more desperate you wanna make $, the harder you will.. so i just relax and see how our human behaviour plays the market (or being played by the market)

Rotijai - It's already one week after ex-date and the price has stabilized at 1.62 - 1.625.

Looks like the ex-date sell-off  has died out. Chances are, this stock is going to creep back up.

the price has to stay up for the takeover... afterwhich, only God knows...

Thanks for pointing out! good point there.

can i assume that  if the price can maintain at above 1.61 range, it show that there's still a bunch of investor out there believing in the potential of the comapny?

The fundamental really does seem strong, anyone heard any news regarding takeover?

starlene      ( Date: 02-May-2012 09:51) Posted:

Many bgt at $1.70-1.72..hence ex dividend hoping to make some marginal gains...they just sold to reap what ever profits, therefore even drop to a low of $1.59..theoretically shd drop base on last done price just b4 ex on 25 Apri....after ex shd be around $1.60...hence after ex still ex $1.61-$1.62 those buyers start sellin

i am just wondering...

let's say.. just giving a scenario (no offence to all investors/traders who long)..

if this stock drops 2-5 cents everyday for a month.. may be until 1.1-1.3+..

will u still trust the fundamental/potential of the company?

Agree with the bros here. If can hold, STX should be able to generate good returns in a few months time. I bought some STX  with CPF in Jan before the divident report and I bought in somemore with cash 1 month ago at $1.68. Gonna keep to my lots and I believe from STX strong financial background it will be able to return to its former position.

At the very least we would be recieving our $100 per lot dividents in  2 weeks  time!

Elmo - thanks for reply. I have got the cash to hold but few months is a long time. Why is this stock falling so  much? I think the market is going down with this euro nonsense. Are you holding OSV too? How much?

Yes, I'm defitinely holding, in fact i have been holding this for 6months already.
I guess I'm luckily to be earning profit since by price was low, but i wasn't the least tempted to sell even when it hit 1.8.
I like the company and what they are doing, so i'm not in a hurry to take profits. If u are still unsure, take a look at their balance sheet, they are fundamentally strong, the markets can be volatile, but ultimately for stocks, it's still up to the company's fundamentals.
Tech. analysis are more for traders i feel, they do intra-day and all those, this is a counter to be long and u have to be ready to hold out for a few months to see result. It's not some penny like JEL with no fundamental and u see people make bucks or lose a fortune by speculating it.
I have to say it will defitinely be hit by the global economic problem, but the past few months they have been winning contracts, so I believe we will see increment in profit come May 14th when they release earning report. If u intend not to keep long, hopefully it will shoot back up to ur price level after 14th may and u can get back ur money.

Cheers~

Looks like we are sinking. 1.59 now. I bought 20,000 shares at 1.73 to get the $2000 dividend and is losing $3000 right now.

All the dividends gone. Are you still clinging to the  baby, littleboi?

start small first.. at least for a few months to a year..

have a feel in the market first... enjoy the small trading first without worrying too much on the profit/loss

then decide whether u should continue or not

instead of play big then.. got bad things happen (i hope not) and u keep trying to recoup...

Wanger, I'm still holding. No choice. Losing $2,800 now that stock has come back slightly at 1.60.

Counting dividend of $2,000, net loss now is $800.
