thanks...but but...it's explain wat's CFD and even show how to short but but it say sell at 8.250 and buy at 8.450...????????? how's come...

 

i just randomly pick a brokerage firm with CFD ...u see their website explanation on CFD can get a clearer view...

ocbc no CFD.

means u just click "sell" when you submit your order even if you don't have the share.

it just means you have to buy back before 5pm unless you try your luck with SGX which is risky cos they buy back 2bids higher than that days' last doen price.

can anybody explain what "others" mean under buy/sell for a trade

its either buy or sell right but sometimes also got "others". what is this? SGX today got a lot of orders under "others"

To buy or sell share, u click on the radio button buy or sell. To short means to sell first before buying in anticipation that the share price will drop later, then you buy back and make the difference. If you are a new to this "game", soak yourself into stock buying first before trying the shorting. This is bcos the shorting needs to buy back at the end of the day. If you long (Buy) the shares, you have up to T+3 to pay up or contra. Hope it helps.

brokenheartz...in order to short a counter...u just click "sell" first instead of "buy"...example: u "sell" SGX at $8.80 then when the price goes lower to $8.75, you click "buy"....remember to tick the contra box yea...

hmmm...personally when I short a counter...i use CFD (Contract-For-Difference)...its kinda safer...because if you contra short it, you will have to cover back within that day itself...if not Singapore Exchange will buyback for you after a few days at 2 bids higher that moment's price...

to short is to sell a share you might have or don't have first and buy back later. If not using CFD (under philips) than its naked short whereby you MUST buy back the share you sold before the end of day closing.

 

IF NOT, SGX will buy in.. and how that happens.. got alot of other posts to explain...
