(Repeats story first published Nov 8)
SINGAPORE, Nov 8 (Reuters) - Singapore's Wilmar International <WLIL.SI>, the world's largest palm oil firm, said on Monday that Australia's Foreign Investment Review Board has approved its $1.5 billion purchase of Sucrogen from CSR Ltd <CSR.AX>.
Australian Treasurer Wayne Swan announced the approval of the deal, it said in a disclosure to the Singapore Stock Exchange.
The transaction remains subject to approval from New Zealand's Overseas Investment Office, Wilmar said.
Wilmar said in a separate announcement that it has increased a planned syndicated term loan facility to $1.3 billion from $1.1 billion to partly accomodate over-subscription by banks. The loan is to help fund the Sucrogen purchase.
Sucrogen is the world's second largest exporter of raw sugar and Australia's top maker of sugar-based ethanol.

Bulk-shipping companies: The Baltic Dry Index, which measures the cost of shipping commodities, fell 0.5% in London yesterday, the longest losing streak since the period ended Sept 24. Cosco Corp. Singapore (COS SP), a China-based shipbuilder that also operates bulk carriers, gained 3.5% to $2.06. STX Pan Ocean Co. (STX SP), South Korea’s biggest bulk carrier, climbed 1.6% to $15. Palm-oil suppliers: Crude palm oil for January delivery increased 2.6% in Kuala Lumpur yesterday to the highest level in more than two years. Golden Agri-Resources (GGR SP), an Indonesian planter listed in Singapore, surged 11% to 78 cents. Wilmar International (WIL SP), the world’s biggest palm-oil trader, gained 0.6% to $6.73.
Keppel Land (KPLD SP): The real-estate unit of Keppel Corp. said it will issue $500 million of unsecured convertible bonds. The convertible bonds will have a term of five years and will be convertible into new Keppel Land ordinary shares, it said. Keppel Land jumped 5.4% to $5.05.
Oversea-Chinese Banking Corp. (OCBC SP): The lender that owns Singapore’s biggest life insurer was raised to “buy” from “hold” at BNP Paribas, which said the company was the “clear- cut winner” among Singapore’s banks during the third-quarter reporting period. The brokerage raised its share-price estimate to $11.40 from $9.70, according to a report by Ng Wee Siang. The stock jumped 4.7% to $9.85. Singapore rig building and engineering conglomerate Sembcorp Industries said on Monday it posted a 65% rise in third quarter net profit, helped by increased contributions from rigbuilding unit Sembcorp Marine.
ST Engineering (STEG.SI) said on Monday its aerospace arm secured about $370 million worth of new airframe heavy maintenance contracts in the third quarter of 2010.
Orchard Parade (ORCH.SI), a Singapore property developer and hotel operator, said on Monday its third-quarter net profit doubled from a year ago due to the recognition of revenue from a condominium project. |

you have got balls! daring to buy on based on hearsay by others. and somemore wack so heavily. but your gamble paid off. congrats. i was not as gutsy as you to enter based on others opinion. as i got burnt cause i took someone else's words before. when i started off, i played ipo and blue chips, someone introduced me to penny stocks, and sadly upon taking up his words, i lost 80% of my capital. which is why i dont really buy cause someone in this forum tells me to buy. even for BT opinion, i will access the situation carefully before entering. sure i will whine if i miss the boat, but if i were to lose money cause i blindly follow others again, then i will have not learned my last lesson.

Newbie here. Just wan to say THANK YOU to BT!!!
I bought GSP end Sep at 2.09. After that, it went down further to 1.86 & my heart sank. I panic cos first time buying so no experience. Then I read from this forum & learned a lot more on GSP. I'm still holding to GSP till now. Read from here Q3 result this week so waiting for it.
Also bought GAR at 0.665 & Cosco 1.85. Sold my Cosco today at 2.07 & earned $1k +.
If not for this forum & BT, I would have sold my GSP long ago and never want to buy share again. I now follow this thread everyday without fail. Even last week holiday also must read. Bought GAR after reading forum here too.
Thanks BT for giving free advice. Although I don't under what black candle, doji candle but I think your advice is very precious to me already....

LoL cool bunny,
Posts like yours really make my day.
If you want to thank me, just post here and share with us your trading experiences and what you have learnt so far.
As long as each of us is willing to share what they have learnt, their trading experiences and any insights they have, I am sure other people would do the same.
And as the community grows, there will no longer be one "sifu" but many many sifus who will contribute and guide the new traders along.
Believe it or not, I am also learning from you guys, whether you are new traders or not, when I post my experiences and findings here. I am also finding out what works and what doesn't work.
And I am glad that I have helped some of you guys. But remember, the stock market is a zero sum game. Meaning when someone gains, somebody else must lose.
So remember, if you are grateful for what you have received,
Make it a point to donate 10% of your profits every month. You will gain the good karma and good fortune in return.
I will list some of the popular charities here. You can donate online.

This is one of my favourite quotes. Be grateful you are the one giving the money away to help somebody in need, and not the one who is in need of money.
Have a blessed evening.

Oh, I just notice that you post at very late hours. So I assume you trade the US market.
I know somebody who trades the US market and just trades one single stock every single night and is very successful at it.
I know what you mean, as the gyrations can be really wild, so setting the cut loss level can be difficult. The previous candle's low is usually the norm, but if the swings are too wide, the previous previous candle's low might work better.
Yeah the late hours is what keeps me away from US market. So after earnings season is over, I will be heading over to HSI.
Probably 40% Singapore stocks, 60% HSI stocks. Since like what I said before, the greatest beneficiary of QE2 will still be Hong Kong. Seek out the financial, commodity and resource stocks in Hong Kong and Singapore.
Remember GentingHK, China Sands are also listed in Hang Seng. HSI has bank stocks which are really cheap, and not to mention the oil and coal stocks. Take your pick.
We can discuss more if you are interested.

hmm why u ask Bt? i'm no trader and don't use margin esp when it comes to nyse...occasionally i try momentum positions to cash invest in specific one or two sectors that's of interest.
Bullish u may actually find it thrilling/ gratifying to trade US market, its like HSI times 2 but me, i get scared out of my wits staring at the world's largest casino when the fickle minded White House and Fed pulls out some new weapon and events like the May 2am flash crash. Lol. The swings are wild and lucractive but i've also been whacked many times, part of it i suspect is the way i calculate stop limits using ATR isn't placed wide enough not to be taken out. Riding a general uptrend with deep whipsaws poses alot of prob & very inconsistent results for me. Much depends on the sector. Retail investors are also up against high frequency trading houses, black pools, media news, fed meetings lots more. The other issue are the late hours, a tired mind doesn't bound well for performance and health. The latter, money cannot buy.
