What a great question! Let me tell you! Of course it's IndoAgri! Don't you know that they need a lot of oil to fry the jeans and underwear during manufacturing process so that it will feel smoother on the skin?

RED, WHITE AND BLUE CHIPS

Prices are rising for jeans and underwear

Cotton crops have been damaged, sending prices up 80%. And that means clothing makers are being forced to raise prices. Ann Cates reports on how manufacturers are handling the cotton shortage -- and how there may be more polyester in our future.

Well done bladez, you damn pro

btw, if oilseeds are the raw mat for CPO, then it would mean the company is expanding as they need new seeds to plant new trees. so even if raw mat prices rise, unless the company is planning to expand it should not affect their results.

i mean you plant 1 tree, wait 5 years, then harvest for 10 years. you would not need anymore raw mat once the tree is fully grown.

Gaecia, we are buying Olam not for the CPO business.

Its the cotton business.

Well most of it is bought at 0.665, so still in profit zone.

Anyway, read bladez and my posts below, analysis on Indo Agri and Wilmar.

We are still bullish on Gar.

Gaecia      ( Date: 10-Nov-2010 12:53) Posted:

Okay like that...Gar and Olam also need to dump to run, then why we bought it in the first place? my olam was forced sold at stop so that cannot be helped its the min. profit i wish to take.

Wilmar at $6.x is overweight especially after yesterday's acquisition news it shot up, isn't that right? bladez made a remark it was so good yest. That increase frm acquisition news is priced into today's correction together with backlustre earnings.

Indo-agri is not this sector's market leader and not a heavy weight stock. Also reported poor earnings, it dived more than 6% within the 1st hr after 10am and recovered towards lunch trade break. By day's end it recovered to fall just 1+% despite poor earnings showing. Bullish your memory doesn't fail u.

Back to GoldenAgri, its post earning's trading pattern is anybody's guesswork. What is your hunch? If its dumped to $0.6 odd, i'll pick it up but that's just me. ;)

BullishTempo      ( Date: 10-Nov-2010 12:09) Posted:

Given that Indo Agri and Wilmar both reported poor results.

We might have to be careful with Golden Agri.

Long term looks good, but short term may see a sell-off  if GAR results are poor.

ok i am quite uninformed. seems like oilseeds are actually different type of seeds that are crushed for oil. palm is 1 of them, soya beans, peanut etc are types of oilseeds.

if CPO so strong, i guess i am going to load up 5 lots now, then probably another 5 pre closing.

It would seem so, yes.

But have to admit the risk factors still exist.

oilseed and grains are the raw mat for CPO right?

so actually by picking out this news, it is actually a good sign to load on or at least hold to what you have for AGR

Yes now you are thinking along the same lines as me.

Quarter-on-quarter, Indo Agri profits went up by 26% because of higher CPO prices.

Wilmar's loss was due mainly to untimely purchase of oilseeds and grain seeds.

Golden Agri's core business is still in CPO.

bladez87      ( Date: 10-Nov-2010 12:41) Posted:

if i not wrong, margin for indo went up since rev dropped 1.8% while sales drop 3.8%.

this is probably a trade off for higher margins. their net profit increased, due to rising selling prices. as such, this industry is still quite good, if despite lower sales and rev, they still can increase profits even with higher op exp.

wilmar poor results, might be solely dependent on their untimely purchase of raw mat.

BullishTempo      ( Date: 10-Nov-2010 12:31) Posted:

"This was mainly attributable to: (a) lower total sales by 3.8% y-o-y, (b) lower forex gain from Rp250.9 billion in 9M09 to Rp65.4 billion in 9M10 and (c) higher operating expenses. Quarterly net profit increased 26% q-o-q on higher crude palm oil (CPO) and palm kernal average selling prices (ASP). Revenue declined 1.8% y-o-y on lower sales volume.
