but remember, you can sell more likely than buy because of quota... you might be able to sell 100lots but you may not be able to buy 100lots back.

Ok. A simple shorting example is:
If you expect the share to drop from 1.5 to 1.4
At first, you SHORT the stock (sell) it at 1.5 price. Assume you do so for 10 lots, that is 15000.
When it is down to 1.4, you decide to buy back the stock @ 1.4, hence the value is 14000. Thus you earn 1000.
Basically, you "borrow" the stocks and sell it at higher price than the what you can buy back at later date.

Thanks for your info.
By the way , how does shorting work ?
If i understand the 'short' term correctly, it means one do not have the holding of certain stock but he trys to sell it and at the end of the day he has to buy back the amount of share he has sold earlier. If he does not buy back the share within the same day, he will be fined by SGX.
Is my understanding correct ? |

Singapore Hot Stocks-Genting Singapore down on Q3 result nerves
10 Nov 2010 - 04:01
SINGAPORE, Nov 10 (Reuters) - Shares of casino operator Genting Singapore fell as much as 5.5 percent in morning trade on Wednesday on jitters ahead of the release of its third-quarter earnings on Thursday, traders said.
At 0347 GMT, Genting Singapore shares were down 3.4 percent at S$2.27 on a volume of 208 million shares.
"There are mixed calls on Genting's upcoming earnings. Some people are saying that their third-quarter results might be lower than expectations given their direct competition with Marine Bay Sands," said a local trader.

You can keep for long term if you want. Analyst targets are between 2.30 to 2.50. Unless you got better stocks to buy. Today noble resistance is 2.20. |

I do hope so. I expected this morning for it to rally to at least 2.27 but now i can raise my hope to 2.3 min.
I exited out of Noble for a small profit and concentrated into GSP. Believe a bigger movement is in place by Friday.
Still keep my GAR position, though Wilmar result does worry me a little.

Hey BT :P np..you give out so many tips this is the least I can do
At level 2 market depth..it is 5 levels deep. Can send you a screenshot later tonight as I dont have access to that at the moment.
Who are you referring to as "they"? If yours is 0.18% it is better than mine (0.22%).
They have the stop loss and trailing stops functions and it is good. Though I always monitor the stocks myself to decide entry/exit.
Yes you can have both short/long position of same stock. The summary of the stock is a add up (net sum up of long/short stocks). You can choose to do additional long/short if you wish, so long as you do not do related order to lock your stock to a certain price.
It is good especially for US market =) too volatile. Interface is a bit confusing though, as the order goes by trade timing. So you can have a mixed match of long/short orders. Make me blurred esp at night

Anybody going into the casino will walk beneath the Spider Web Dome.
In fengshui terms, the gambler is walking into a trap.

Naked Statues.Gamblers will lose their shirts, pants, and panties.

Elephant with pyramid at the entrance to RWS casino.
The elephant's ivory pierce all unsuspecting gamblers walking past the sculpture.

The Devil's Claw setup.
Gamblers don’t stand a chance walking thru this on the way into the casino.
BT, what's your target price for GAR?

Yes level 2 market depth. But how deep can you see? 5 levels deep?
Commission is 0.15% ? They are giving me 0.18% (CFDs)
They are giving me financing rate 0.1 %
Their trailing stops and stop-loss features are good?
Can you have short and long positions on the same stock in the same account?
lol thanks for answering
zentarius ( Date: 10-Nov-2010 15:01) Posted:
Hey BT..np
I am using level 2 market depth but I am NOT sure if they give up to level 5. Haha..gonna check it tonight =P
The stock commision is similar to that of other platforms. They need to stay competitive. Singapore is 0.15%.
The good thing abt Saxo is that your position will include the cost of opening and cost to close, so you can see your actual profit.
Financing rate..i think u mean CFD.. singapore trading fee is 0.22%, financing (L/S) is 3pp/-2.5pp..quite standard for other market too
BullishTempo ( Date: 10-Nov-2010 14:35) Posted:

I am used to it and I gotta say it is quite easy to use.
They give a HUGE range of CFD for you to use. It is a big plus, and their margin requirement is less than that of Poems. I use for US stocks and margin requirement is only 10%. Other platform is 20% I believe.
For the plaotform, the commands are good, easy to use and fool-proof. I like the technical analysis part too. Sorry at work now so I can not do a screenshot for you -.-.
They offer three platform, mobiletrade, webtrade and their own program that u need to download to use
And NO, im not advertising for them =P it is just my humble opinion.
A HUGE DOWN point is that Saxo account is not linked with CDP hence u can not buy IPOs. |
