Yah, that's how the stock market is .  One man's loss is another man's gain !!!

Yeah I expected GAR to beat estimates. But only meet estimates.

At least it didn't under-perform.

Thats how the stock market is.

So now we must move on to next target !

DJ MARKET TALK: Kim Eng Cautions Against Palm-Oil Over-Exuberance

0652 GMT [Dow Jones] Singapore palm-oil plays mostly higher with Golden Agri (E5H.SG) leading, +4.0% at S$0.78, nudging tad higher after lunch on strong 3Q results, but Wilmar (F34.SG) off 2.9% at S$6.32 after disappointing 3Q earnings Wednesday. Kim Eng says recent sharp increase in palm stocks in tandem with upward move in CPO prices, +28% over past three months. But notes differentiating factors for Singapore plays; "Firstly, integrated palm oil companies such as Indofood Agri (5JS.SG) and Wilmar would actually be hurt by higher CPO prices as they are net buyers of higher-cost CPO in the open market." Prefers CPO net sellers, such as Golden Agri, First Resources (EB5.SG), Kencana (F9M.SG). "However, we would also caution against over-exuberance in buying these stocks. Ultimately, supply shortfalls mean that there is less inventory of CPO for these companies to sell. CPO price increases would simply be offsetting this, and likely revenue-neutral." (matthew.allen@dowjones.com)

Golden Agri-Resources (E5H.SG), +3.3% at $0.775 midday, may find it hard to push much higher after 3Q results, as 36% rally since start of October vs STI +6.6% in same period largely prices in expected boost to profits from soaring CPO prices; 3Q net profit +40.6% on-year at US$99.2 million ($127.6 million), +50.3% on quarter; revenue +43% on year at 964.7 million, +32.8% on quarter, due to higher CPO prices.

Analyst at local brokerage says results strong on surface, but margins “a little bit lower than expected. Core net profit didn't really meet our numbers, but it’s probably taking some time for the higher CPO prices to filter through.”

Gross margin at 24.5% for 9M10 vs 25.3% for 1H10. Adds, stock “pretty near its fair value, (further gains) will depend on their expansion plans and how they can capture the best of these rising CPO prices.”

Noble beat estimates, so it went up.

Golden Agri only met estimates.

That was the difference.

IndoAgri is in my watch list too ... Imagine if you bought it on the day when it releases its bad Q3 result and drop to $2.4x, you would already be a rich man by now!
