Sifu is right...
But the number of winners is really too miniscule...

I agree that share is not meant for  all type of people. But saying playing share will be sure to go " pok!" ? lol that is way too extreme, dont you think? There is losers, but there is also winners as well in this case :)

You may wish to know that there are family heads
who strictly prohibit their later generations to ever
touch stocks. Which is a good thing, because if
they play shares, they will  be sure to go " pok!" .
                                This is a universal truth...

thanks for sharing.....wow, 70% of friends and relatives goes casino at least once ..... that is alot as compared with my  survey as there are only less than 0.05 % of the friends and relatives going to casino..... even  my uncles and aunties who buy 4d, toto diligently and plus special football / big sweep also did not step into Singapore casino before..... but these results  are very interesting.
Maybe we should extend the survey to find more results.

Most unfortunate indeed, luckily for me I " hit the wall" when I was much younger, suicide was not in my thoughts then. Gambling within one's means and never ever borrow money to gamble, that is one policy everyone have to learn. Same with everything else, moderation. Buying a fast car doesnt mean you have to go top speed on the road, so I hope people can safeguard oneself and enjoy what they have safely.

Yes, correct...
there are many cases of casino-related
                    suicides surely more to come...

I wouldnt say it is a survey, but if you really wanna know, at least 70% of my relative (those that is below  60 years old) visited or are still visiting  those casinos, and for friends, I dont have exact numbers, but most of them been there before as well. As to how often they are there, I  cant be  sure. :)
And I dont see any hard feelings about it, so no worries in asking :)

There may be a large population here, but only
    relatively few are Internet-savvy. There's a huge
bulk of the population who does not even have
any inkling of the Internet besides the local TV
and newspaper. Very sad situation, but true...

Your circle of contacts might not be interested in sp casinos, but that might not applies to others' as well lol. Anyway there is definately a market for the locals in these casinos. Genting sp for example, have a whole section for locals only (those that paid levy), made them feel like VIP? and those section is crowded.    If gov raise the levy  seriously does not  means that the business will be affected, on the contrary, imo it shows that the gov sees a potentially good place to increase revenue. Just like ERP, casino levies is a good place to profit. They know that even if they raise it, the visitors will still be increasing, just like the amount of vehicles in Singapore.
These are just my opinion of course, but also can serve as food for thoughts for some :)

STI's 120-point swing |
With global markets characteristically volatile of late, it was no surprise that the STI underwent yet another wild week - swinging 126 points between its high-low of the week. The benchmark index eventually finished down 0.6% week-on-week (wow) at 2,825.1.  Genting Singapore headed back toward optimistic levels Capitalising on positive days to make strong moves was casino operator Genting Singapore. Battered to a low of $1.49 just two weeks ago, Genting Singapore used last week to claw its way back up. The stock finished up 5.3% wow to $1.70 on Friday. Call GentingSMBeCW120403@ (OZ8W) exercise price $1.60.* Put GentingSMBePW120301@ (OT4W) exercise price $1.85.* |

They will never ban Singaporeans from entering...

          The more the merrier... lol...
