By the way, last year Genting HK posted its results 2009 on March 25. So the full year 2010 results will probably be out by the 25th of next month.

Belle is unlikely to open by year end. The site is not much better than a hole in the ground still. You can view a recent picture at  http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1230059& page=29. But even if we assume, for argument's sake, that Belle opens in December, any loss of patronage would be offset by higher foreign visitors by Q3 when the 3rd hotel (the one that will cater to the junkets) opens.

And what seasonality is the analyst talking about with regard to the January numbers? He/she didn't explain. If there's any seasonality, it should have come during December during the Christmas holidays.

Genting Hong Kong’s share price has fallen almost 17% in the last two weeks. No new news, except that RWM is still doing roaring business (slightly ahead of our forecast). Too early to upgrade to a Buy though, in the absence of catalysts, although the share rice has fallen below our target price.

Ship Hasn't Coming in Yet

Genting Hong Kong (GENHK SP)                              HOLD
Price / Target: US$0.370/US$0.40                              Market Cap: US$2.9b                              Volume: US$9.9m              52-week high/low: US$0.535 / US$0.16

What's New

Genting Hong Kong’s share price has fallen almost 17% in the last two weeks. A recent update with the company revealed that it's business as usual and dispel speculation that the casino operation could be affected by bad luck factor

Impact

Meanwhile, Resorts World Manila (RWM) has gotten off to a strong start this year. We estimate that RWS has been sustaining a daily gross gaming revenue (GGR) of US$2m in Jan 11, well above 2010’s estimated average daily GGR of US$1.2-1.3m. Casino revenues have grown substantially since the opening of the 3rd floor (VIP section, and daily visitorship improved from 8,000-9,000 people in 3Q10 to about 14,000 in Jan 11. Nevertheless, we note that 1Q11’s firm figures could be partly lifted by seasonality factor.

However, looking competition casts gloom on RWM. Domestic patronage, which still accounts for the bulk of of RWM’s GGR, could ease particularly by 2H11, on new competition and as mounting as inflation bites into consumer spending. We understand that Belle Corp appears on schedule to open its casino by year-end.

Taiwan - we understand that there is still no official announcement yet on the potential legalisation of casino operations.  While Sri Lanka should be closer to legalising casinos, there's still no word on the timeline yet. We expect GENHK to bid for casino licenses in these two countries should casinos be legalised.

Maintain HOLD and sum-of-parts target price of US$0.40. Our target price implies a target 2011F fully diluted PE and adjusted EV/EBITDA of 17.1x and 11.0x respectively.

Regards
