TAT HONG POSTS NET PROFIT OF S$10.6 MILLION IN 1QFY2010
- Revenue declines 37% to S$120 million
o Impacted by slowdown in Equipment Sales and lower revenue contribution from General
Equipment Rental;
o Marginally offset by 49% increase in Tower Crane revenue
- Gross profit margin improves to 39.4% in 1QFY2010
- Net gearing remains stable at 0.53 times as at June 30, 2009
Yes, it is not easy to reach international dominance. So far, I can only think of Coca Cola company, Procter and Gamble company, Macdonalds' company, Sony Corporation, Royal Dutch/ Shell Group, Nestle, Mitsubishi, Hitachi and Toyota Motors as some of the companies having far reaching international dominance.
dun forget Caterpillar from US...
today result release beat estimate.
Yes. It is already one of the largest crane companies around. I'm looking at it growing further to expand it's presence in even more countries so that when next time any customers worldwide wants to buy cranes or rent cranes, they will straight away think of only buying or renting from Tat Hong. This is international dominance, somthing like Coca Cola company which has thorough international presence in the sales of it's beverages.

It is not easy to forecast accurately the future of any company. What we investors can do is only make our forecast based on current and past financial figures (from their annual reports) and business performance of the company so far. Tat Hong has been in it's business for more than 10 years already and has since grown into now a global player. It has also weathered a few financial downturns before and still stands. It has actively expanded it's business into Australia (by acquiring the Tutt Bryant group and other smaller crane and heavy machinery companies) and is now looking at expanding into China. It has established it's presence in Australia already and plans to do so for China too. Now, it is working on a joint venture with Fushun Yongmao Construction Machinery company in China to establish it's presence in China. It is going to be a competitive showdown in China with the many crane and heavy machinery companies operating there. However, to be successful in business to become the market leader, the company has no choice but to compete agressively or else it will never be able to grow it's business to a new level.
As China's government is starting more infrastructure and construction projects in China, there will be a lot of potential business opportunities for Tat Hong and it's other competitors in the years to come. Tat Hong is already changing it's business model more into rental than sales, so this should provide more stable recurring income for the years to come. I look at Tat Hong as an evergreen company that has stand established through the years since it started and has gone through tough times and still endures. This speaks of the management's capability to maintain the growth of it's business through good and bad times. Much still remains to the results of the expansion of it's business into China. Let's hope this company continues to endure and grow it's business further. I think Tat Hong may have potential to become a world market leader in the sales and rental of cranes and heavy machinery parts business if it can continue to grow it's prescence strategically globally.
<Just my two cents worth. Nobody can predict accurately the future of a business. We can only make an intelletual guess based on the company's current and past performance and hope our guess is correct in future.> |
