Aiyo yo...... Good move for today, bad move for the next few days. Mine even worst cut loss at Sgd. 2.40. At this moment today is up 2 cents already.

Totally agreed.. collected 2.37 and decided exit 2.44 which i think if i wish to collect for long, today should see better bargain near to market close. Selling force still strong at market start..

Good luck to all vested.

Think that this stock is half dead liao, such a severe selldown from 3.05 to 2.33 yesterday close 2.45 after someone came out to say there would be some clarification yesterday night.

The volume this week has been immerse, question is who has so many shares to sell ..... and if they will be covering back - so far it seems that prop traders are just going with the flow, selling is easier than buying esp in this weak mkt conditions. It takes them 4 mill to clear 10 bids up but only 2 mill to bid 10 bids down .... no support on the stock liao. Previous support by KE of 2.44 is gone, might turn out to be another YZJ.

Anyways I would sell on any rebound and maybe short some unless the buying can be as strong as the selling previously.

haha, yes, trader88.

tho sometimes, these kind of thing can catch people unaware, esp if they think cosco is a stable counter (ie, stock selection wrong).

shd have a tech rebound sometime soon tho. it's massively oversold.

wld frankly advise to cut on the rebound if any. too risky.

Actually I agree with you elfinchilde. I didn't try to catch any falling knives. Just that I finally decided enough is enough for this counter. So cut loss after holding the stock for about 4 months.

It is definitely not a fair game or else how to make money right?

Yup tuition fees.

ryanwong, how do you think "hot tips" that even your neighbourhood kopitiam uncle/auntie know come about?

by the time it reaches them tho, they tend to be ramped up to a certain point already, so even if you do make, it's just a little compared to what the BBs make. still, better profit than loss. Talking

is it dirty? yes. is it unfair? patently.

but then, this is the market. we're small fries. pointless having any pretensions of equality or fairness. Far wiser to learn fast and go with it, rather than against it.

o/w, it's play on. you may lose one, but it doesn't mean you'll lose forever. the faster one learns, the better it becomes. so chins up, peeps! (or as we call it, "tuition fees" to the market. whaha.)

In other words if you get price-sensitive news that the market does not know yet, and you do not want to be the ONLY one trading based on that, then quickly spread the word?

Sure won't be the only one liao.

elfinchilde      ( Date: 07-Aug-2008 15:27) Posted:

strictly speaking:

insider trading is if you buy/sell a counter when you are privy to price-sensitive news that the market does not know yet. such as the winning of a big contract, or the change of management, as per cosco's case.

but it is very, very difficult to prove. since a lot of times, it may just be market rumors--how to find the source when practically everyone knows it--or it may be BB changing portfolio legitimately, or it may be experienced techies: eg, personally i'd have called a trading sell on cosco @ 2.97 on aug 4 based on candlesticks: vol up, px closed down, not a good sign at all. classic sell signal.

why the tanking happens worse is because once the news is out, you have genuine distribution, plus shorting going on by the opportunists. You can count the no: of shortists by the short covering at the day's end. esp the closing bell's lots.

so really, mostly, a person is caught for insider trading only if he's idiotic enough to be the ONLY one buying/selling on privileged news, AND someone reports him. Which is not how BBs operate. Neither is it how SGX acts. haha.

i just created a thread, go see it. hopefully it may help the n00bs some.

edit:

oh, and we can thank cosco for the shelling of the other marine counters today man. sembmar, kepcorp, swiber, etc. o/w their drop actually wouldn't be so drastic: most counters are actually down only 3% or less today; but the marine plays are all down at least 5%, with exception of kep corp. opportunistic shorting on these counters.
