shplayer...

Sorry I didn't make it clear... actually I am asking those pure chartists, ie. traders who, by choice, prefer not to notice much FA's, coz they have long developed  a disdain for so-called FA.... :)

I am not too concerned about TA charts after xd.

My investment decisions are based, first and foremost, on FA and then on TA to time entry/exit....I would say FA:TA ratio for me is 90%:10%

If FA is not feasible, then I probably won't take the plunge.

Anyway, today, Rotary is a good Xmas present.....

Wishing all members here a MERRY XMAS!!!

Does anyone know whether Metastock has a built-in feature for XD price adjustments? If it hasn't, then it would be a breakthrough to include one, since 'reborn' charts after each XD can be real a pain in the neck for chartists.

Or do experienced chartists think it's not really a problem?

After the xd, the chart "looks" like its is a "new" IPO.. Might have to wait for quite some time for the chart to "react" to this "new IPO".

Re: Coments on TA charts after xd.

Upon xd on 19 Dec, the theoretical price should be adjusted to 58.9cts. On 21 Dec it closed at 62cts.

From 20 to 21 Dec chaikin, Acc/Dist and RSI all show uptrend...inline with the price uptrend.

Hence, these indicators seem to recover within 2 trading days from xd.

Of course the BollBd is still out of whack......but we can, for the time being depend on the other 3 indicators to track any trend reversal.

Thanks Eastonbay...

Since ShareJunction is the regular 'hangout' of screenwatchers and lurkers, it would be preferable for the sake of convenience to be able to find 'reminders' of XD counters 'on the go' right here without having to make the tedious manoeuvres elsewhere.

One can easily obtain ex dividend dates at SGX website:

http://info.sgx.com/stkannc.nsf/new+corporate+actions+by+ex+date?OpenView

You can sort it by ex-d, company etc etc at a click of button.

At cd, my estimate of FY06 eps is 9 cts/sh.

At xd, this will be revised to 6.5cts/sh.

Do forummers think it would be a good idea to have a thread named

"Ex-Dividend Dates" for members' benefit?

Haha... that's true.

This is one loophole of TA. When using charts, its important to find out if XD is coming soon because the price will be artificially altered.

That's really the problem... we chart and follow a stock with diligence and passion... then come dividend time and on the XD day, our precious chart is 'vandalised' as it were, by the price resulting difference. Our charts and all the accompaying bells, whistles and oscillators go haywire and kaput, and we are at a loss as to what to do... to give up tracking our lovingly cultivated stock and move on to another? But then, all stocks will give us the same headache when their turn comes. Hey, isn't it time the software engineers come up with some sort of adjustment feature for this?

Hi!,

Based on last cd-price @ 0.825, theorectical price (ex-div & rights) should have been 0.589 (ie.  0.825 x 5 =  4.125 / 7)

Base on yesterday closing price of $0.825, the ex div & ex rts price should be $0.575. Formula: [($0.725 x 5) + (0.20 x 2) ] / 7. Anyone correct me if  i'm wrong.
