Your point is taken.  Just as you indicated each one is entitled to one's views.  And since I was expressing my personal opinion, "belittling" is far from my vocabulary.  Just remember that our MM, recently,  went off tangent in his remarks about the Malaysian Chinese being marginalised and had to subsequently apologise.

Someone started another tread re: Genting under General. I think it is a better tread here.

Well, I'm responding to IreneL's comment. I think Singapore Govt is professional enough to evaluate the candidates purely on merits and it is a business decision. Marina IR is a testimony to that.

If Genting gets it, it's because the Govt viewed it as most able to bring in constant flow of tourists to Singapore due to Universal Studio. We are belittling our professional Govt by saying "should not and ought not award to GIL on political grounds".  I don't think there was ever political concern. They run Singapore like a Inc.

Also, I don't understand how it would reflect that Sgp is submissive to its neighbour.

Just think of it, due to the South Johor development plan, they can conveniently build an IR there with GIL. What would the outcome be?

I'm not trying to start a political debate here. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and this is just my humble opinion.

A bit cover-own-backside kind of comment  as the score btw the 3 contenders are just 10 pts apart. Still, GIL came out top.

Genting Intl (GIL SP): Merrill Lynch has tipped GIL as having 75% chance of winning the Sentosa Integrated Resort
bid, although the report goes on to say that losing the bid could send GIL's share price down by 30% to 27cts. ML gives
GIL a total score of 88%, while the Kerzner Intl-Capitaland (CAPL) scored 82% and Eighth Wonder came in with the
lowest score at 79%
. Based on the process used for the Marina Bay licence, the report reckons that a government
decision on the winning bid could come between the dates of 04 Dec 06 and 08 Dec 06. (BT)

actually, for this counter, one cannot use the normal way to decide. This is a BET. 26 cents downside vs 80 cents upside. So, whether u buy at 38 or 40 cents ...... the winning is big the lossing is  ........hmmm.

Juz trade with the trend. If the trend is up,  go along if you can stomach the risk...... have taken position at 35, 38, 38.5 today ...  My friend has entered at 36 cents after she evaluates the risk vs reward.

Secondly, if one is using TA, 200MA is used only for long-term investors.  I believe at TAs believers are of short-term. 10, 50 & 100 MAs is the typical MA range.

From TA point of view, the price is still above the 200 Day MA of 35 cts. But there is more distribution than accumulation. There was a volume spike of 29 million shares on last Friday. Shows that traders are taking profit at betw 37 to 38 cts. Resistance remains at 39 cts which was its all time high.

Hi YongJiu,

Yeh, the Geylang's one should call Integrated Brothel (IB) and same like New Zealand and Netherland to legalise the Pros. This will bring in some vibrant night life to enhance the taxation.

Hope this news won hit Gen Int too much.

Credit Suisse says it has cut its target price for the stock of Star Cruises Ltd, the Malaysian cruise line listed here and in Hong Kong, to 0.20 usd per share from 0.31 usd after the company reported wider-than-expected losses for the first nine months of this year.

Credit Suisse is keeping its "neutral" rating for the stock.

Yesterday, Star Cruises reported a nine-months net loss of 8.63 mln usd, having made a net profit of 43.61 mln usd a year before.

In response, Credit Suisse said: "We are slashing our 2006 estimate to a net loss of 25 mln usd and 2007 net profit estimate by 70 pct to 31 mln usd."

Credit Suisse said its reduced estimate of net profit for 2007 meant Star Cruises was trading at a prospective price-earnings ratio of 34.6 to one, double that of its peers, such as Carnival and Royal Caribbean Cruises.

At 11.37 am, Star Cruises was up 0.005 usd or 2.7 pct at at 0.19, with 770,000 shares traded.
