COSCO Corp said on Friday that an Asian shipowner has cancelled two shipbuilding contracts with its shipyard subsidiary and is delaying the delivery of two more vessels.
It did not name the shipowner but India's Great Eastern Shipping Co Ltd said on Thursday it had cancelled two new shipbuilding contracts with a Chinese shipyard, citing the highly uncertain business environment, according to Reuters. It did not name the shipyard.
The contracts were signed in June and October 2007 for four bulk carriers of 57,000 DWT each, Cosco said today. The shipowner has paid compensation for the cancelled orders, which have not been built as yet.
Cosco said the date of delivery of the two remaining vessels would be postposed by six to seven months and added that the cancellations are not expected to have a significant impact on the net tangible assets and earnings per share of the company for the year ended Dec 31 2008.

It is a rough tough world out there. As investors, corporate bankruptcy should be our No. 1 risk concern in 2009.
Think more bankruptcy to follow thro in 2009..we will know soon..comimg reporting.
If u think 2011 is too far,,,think again, which crises is like unto this one...so many brand old name disappear...even AIG almost gone...so will be my insurance policies buy for so long still got another 7 yrs to go.
I believe alot of ppl buy ins from this big fish., was so worry.
I really cant tell...didnt i say predict only...but from what i read and think ...it look like it..everybody sure do have their opinion...but wait read this..

it is coincidence or can u say something...i am learning...it is ok ..i am easy..i will not take harsh word ..as ppl in this crises have lost $ sure get mad...i really do understand..but mad is useless...think of way to recoup back the $ more important..
I would say personnally not so bad, but i make little compare to my business...coming this years still not very sure the going will be good...hope dont need to do cost cutting measure..

Good judgement, as d 1 qtr for most coys are likely worst than d preceeding yr. If that comes true, indeed it will, then u again need to take another qtr leave liao n relax. Cash is still king loh.
However, u still can peow some profitable counters, just keep yourself occupied, if u r full time investor.

It is a famous saying...volatility of the market is to be accepted...but for so long in the market i just cant digest this...like the oct day...anyhow throw, me see almost vomit...but force myself to buy some cos friend encourage..and u know the next day it went lower..
But if u miss this round..i think u still got chance again to buy...there will be several lows before 2011 bottom...hope you ride the storm buying without vomitting...me predict only..DYODD
don't time the market , let the market time you .
on oct 28..bought olam and noble but little becuase i was quite scare at the fire sale...look back should have buy more...but still am holding...believe that the day of fire sale is still coming..
No worry ..this one if u bought now also can long..years from now u look back u cannot get this px again..and u may end like me saying...should have buy more.

haizzzz..... seems like i made a v bad choice...i was v mixed between the 2. should have come online n consult b4 i bought
maybe if noble can touch ard $1.05, i try a bit..... at least cover a bit of pain from cosco.....
If read AK earlier posting, Noble still better choice, owing to its profitable biz. It will announce its last FY soon. AGM in Feb. Last div was 0.0248 cts, though not much.
However, keeping those stock now below 30 cts n likely paying d same amount of FY div is much viale loh.
Personally, I would not enter noble now. They are trading near 100 MA line, and just bound off. Short-term risk for downside is higher than it might go up. Even if it goes up, I doubt it can sustain even at 1.2. So If I see them going above that, I will short it.
For noble, currently if they drop near $1 I think can buy la.
