yeah lor, the oil price been rising above the psycho level $85 driving some buying interest in oil laggards.

personally  prefer oil to stay in a range of $75 to $85 (oil's sweetspot) which is more healthy for markets overall.

weiqiqi, you hit it right on the nail head. margin is being squeezed so badly in offshore services right now, more so the small player with limited financial strength.

When margin drops from 20% to 5%, you have to wonder how much harder you need to make up on the topline to satisfy the bottomline growth. Worsel, this baby is a fast cash burner.

Not sure it can turn around anytime soon. I hope so it can turn around for all you to make some money. IF not and it drops below 99c, you should change strategy to short it instead.

profit margin is very thin... that's the main issue. They just had a -ve qtr... hopefully it can turnaround.

Swiber Holdings: In the running for a few projects

Summary: As oil companies ramp up capital expenditure, the field development segment is one area that has seen a significant increase in work available. According to Upstream, Swiber Holdings (Swiber) is currently bidding for a pipelay installation job at the delayed Doi Moi project, as well as for Petrobras’ flexible flowlines and rigid risers. The latter project was scaled down when Petrobras removed a few fields from the bidding due to budget restrictions. Swiber may also be eyeing a transportation and installation job in Malaysia. The group’s order book stands at US$769m as at 2 Mar 2010, though this includes the 5-year CUEL contract worth US$250m. Demand for field development work in Asia Pacific and the Middle East remains strong, although competitors during the bidding process are also unrelenting as well. With more work and better asset utilisation, we have already incorporated a 7% core net profit margin in FY10; a significant increase from 1.5% and 5.4% in FY09 and FY08 respectively. We maintain our HOLD rating with a fair value estimate of S$1.10. (Low Pei Han)
