Yeah Elf, you are absolutely right about your lifestyle when work comes in the way. My lifestyle is totally opposite from yours. I live a "boring" lifestyle. It evolves around work and family only. I believe there are still many boring men like me in the street...lol!

1/3 of my time I spent sleeping. The other third goes to my family, and I need another third to fill me, that is my work. If I go jobless, I will feel empty and useless. And it is the last third item that will bring in $$ and provide for my family, and provide me a place for a good sleep.

We had been brought up that way to earn as much $$ as possible. That's the way of life in the 70s that all parents ensures kids have proper education and when we grew up, we will earn that $$ to provide for the family. It's because of this deep seated message that were passed on from generation to generation, that S'pore had became a developed country in such a short time. I am afraid we are in the making of another Hong Kong.

It's this message in our mind, sub-consciously, telling us that we cannot afford to go jobless. Going jobless means no $$. And if we have no $$, we can't get the dream lifestyle that we had once dreamed of. I strongly believe that your parent will be hard pressing you to get a job soon after the 3rd month if they see you still at home facing the computer 9-5. Becuase your parents had also received that message from their parents.

For me, job will bring in income, that's my core income. After expenditure, the saving will be used in preparation for rainy days. To have the saving left to the bank, we are infact loosing $$ due to inflation. The interest banks are paying cannot even cover inflation. Hence I put the $$ to good use-invest. And I strongly believe that I cannot get rich by trading in the stock mkt. My objective is simple. I do not want to lost my $$ to inflation. Punting is fun, but can also dry u up quickly if you are on the wrong side of the trade. So watch the pitfall.

Cheers!

I have to agree with sggal, we end up paying most of our savings to medical fees when we are other. Id rather we pay more gst and tax, and scrap the cpf to have free medical and social welfare.

Btw, is there any brokage in sg that offers $5USD for a transaction in the US stock markets? The cheapest so far is $9.90USD from etrade if i am not wrong and the bad part is that you will have to do at least 10 trades to get that price.

One thing I really like about life overseas in Canada or Australia is the closeness to nature's beauty. People there have access to nature. A mere 1 hour drive from the city puts you in the mountains or the desert or the ocean.

In Singapore, it's always about work & money. People in Singapore work to make money at the expense of their health ... only to spend it all away in their middle age seeking medical treatment to cure their ailments. This is so pointless....

(unless one lives to work!)... Smiley

You are right, Elfinchilde, jobs get in the way of GOOD & HEALTHY living. Being bored without job is just an excuse to avoid GOOD & HEALTHY living.

1. If you use Phillips Pro Trader, the counter party is shown on the last column of Market Depth.

2. Tru,. BBs like to create a false bullish or bearish sentiment by playing with the queing features of market depth.

Some ignorant questions which i hope the experts can shed light on

1. How do see who is the counter party for the day's trade? I tot u can only see the counter party for your own trade. Are there any free websites where i can see the detailed volume breakdown for the entire day?

2. My broker was telling me not be fooled by huge queue volume waiting to buy cause basically the traders will lots of time on their hands will try to create a false market. Here is how they do it.

actual buy volume 30 lots. trader queues behind the "real" order for another 30 lots thus creating a false mkt of 60 lots. he will be monitoring closely to keep on moving his false orders to queue behind the real orders. of course, the trader might be trapped if a big player suddenly makes a huge purchase and buys into his "false" buy orders. Any comments or strategies to beat thi

Email from a friend.

BEWARE OF FRIED FOOD

This is a REAL TRUE STORY ...and also saw loon told me it
happened to her place to Kedah ..tunjang..i think..

it happened to us too, in PERLIS (titi chai kangar..the pasar

            malam area
where they always selling GORENG PISANG in the noon ..)

Mom said , my uncle saw they fried the GORENG PISANG
they added the STRAW ( which we use to drink water) and melted

            into HOT OIL before fried
that why, the GORENG PISANG, GORENG UBI..etc all very crispy
            for hours....

And, my uncle could not explain why, and he asked them , they
just keep quite..and then when my uncle told my mom, and we
realized this is how to make the foods crispy for a while..
my mom said, becareful of Thailand stuffs too
eg: Crispy Ikan Bilis, Crispy fried onions ..which if u leave
in the open air for hours still crispy..

Like in CANADA, our place only, we only rain 5-times or less a

            YEAR.
so , if we leave our breada in open air  overnight, next day
it will really crispy...otherwise it will never..because the
            env. here is very dry..
but in Malaysia, it should not be
            because too moisture there

Pls forward to all your friend..
            DO NOT EAT CRISPY FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD
            esp from the hawker !..
try leave it in the open air for hours and see..

            Here's another one:

the world is changing,i read some news

            oh my my...

i have been to cameron highlands with my family,

            it was 3 pm ++
we are hanging around the market area, we saw many hawker
stall doing their business, suddenly something attracted me...

one of the stalls, there was a big wok of oil, there was a
half-5-litre empty oil bottle on it

it's melting slowly in the hot frying oil... i was freak out,
i thought it was an unintentional act by a 7-yr-old girl ....
but when i looked at it closely, i saw a pair of chopstick
stirring the bottle.. seemed like it was purposely
immediately, i asked my family to come and check it out... at
that moment, the parents of the girl who sat beside, were
            looking at us ferociously.

oh my god... they using melted plastic to fry food...
the reason is the tit bits will not soften after placing for
sometime due to plastic had been harden after melted.

experiment had been done as below.
            one without plastic

food is kind of soft after a while
ĵadd plastic, and fry another once again... it crispier than
            KFC   !!

please stop eating this hawker's fried food...

ask your mummy to fry if u want to eat..
this is their secret recipe   ...

yep punter, you're right about the first part. that's why i'd prefer to be my own trader, rather than just buying/selling for others....wldn't think it's superfluous/inconsequential to build experience, though. All part of the learning experience, esp when one's young.

Arbitrager...how shall i put my guess....would jackson tai be of meaning to your current pasture? ;)

depends on what i wanna do. depends on what the position can offer....only one local house that i may be interested in joining. and then, haha, for reasons that had better not be said in an online forum. *eyes watching*

I don't mean to pour cold water or anything like that... :)

But in this game, the only experts are the ones who can build up their own trading account...
And keep it growing for as long as they are still in the game...

Anything else is superfluous, inconsequential... but time wasting... Smiley
