TRAINING firm Zone Financial was set up to teach people how to trade in future contracts and indices.
But it also acted as a fund manager between May 2004 and August 2006, collecting nearly $4 million from 32 people. Its managing director, Kelvin Han How Yong, 28, was on Monday jailed five months after pleading guilty to allowing the firm to engage in fund management without a capital markets services licence from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). Han would persuade participants at his training sessions to invest in a fund - called the Kelvin's Fund - for periods ranging from a few weeks to six months. Between May 2004 and August 2006, he raised about $4 million from 32 investors as personal loans to him. The money was used to trade in futures contracts and indices and he promised his clients returns of one to five per cent per month, depending on the amount they put in. By the time he resigned as managing director in August 2006, he had lost about $718,000. |

A crash is better than a sustained bear market...
In a panic crash, one can pick up great bargains at low low prices...
But in drawn out bear market, many people's money is eroded week by week...
month by month, as is happening at this time, and it seems to be without end....
Hasn't REALLY crashed yet. Maybe tomorrow.
Hey all.. I'm back!
Looks like the market really crashed when I am away....

Hey elfie - where did you go? Back yet?
Both of u going to the same place, is it?

haha, what a coincidence! i'm leaving for a short holiday tomorrow too!

okie... I'm going off tomorrow.
Unfortunately, I think the market will likely end up in the red tomorrow because of the big rally today.

There's certainly fellowship of the bears for those who are share 'holders'...

Hi shplayer,

Why I know Mas Selamat is in Malaysia?
I went to Malaysia last weekend. During the trip, I saw several banners saying

That's how I knew.
Cheers.
Hi Singaporegal, it has been long time not seeing you .. where had you been? Still in your holiday trip?
For francis ... once you know what FX is, you will be very happy to play with. And its movement clearer than Stock Market.
Enjoy your life bro ...

I'm going on a short break at the end of this week. Haha... just to let those people who are keeping track of the SGH indicator
With this current market turmoil... I think there are better odds in playing mahjong or 21 than in playing stocks. hehehe..
I agree with you...
All is speculation...

Alamah, don't get involve in FX, esp USD currently situation. End of the days you will find you have Rings on the Eyes. Money earned not enough to get rid of them. Ha ha.

You probably (like me) do not favour highly-geared instruments but prefer paid up stock trading.
It is true that the high gearing in FX trades is more 'dangerous' than stocks...
