The chart shows this one struggling for so long to climb 4 steps...
But then so easily and quickly slide back 3 steps...
ie. the fall is so much faster than the rise
I am referring to the daily chart...

News Released after market closed on 14 May 2010. Yongnam achieves record net profit of S$ 13.8 million for Q1 2010, net profit increase of 35.5%. Strong order book of S$ 488 million as of 31 March 2010. Note that EPS is 1.12 cents for Q1 2010. Assuming same EPS for next 3 quarters, it is estimated to be 4.48 cents for FY 2010. And assuming growth of 20%, the share price will be worth 4.48 x 20 = 80.96 cents, normally if we go by P/E of 20.
Strong and positive words from Yongnam management. Prospects for the Goup remain attractive. "Going forward, we are looking at potential contracts from Singapore which include infrastructural projects like the Singapore Sports Hub and the MRT Downtown Line Phase 2. At the same time, we are also pursing projects in Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia and India." With the record profit achieved in 1QFY2010 providing a strong headstart and a comfortable order book of S$488 million as at 31 March 2010, the Group is optimistic that it will continue to perform well in FY 2010.
Very strong fundamentals for Yongnam. Best wishes to all Yongnam investors, BB and retail investors.
Dear Yongnam investors,
At this morning AGM, CEO Seow highlighted that Yongnam will continue to perform well in 2010. There are solid projects in the pipeline, such as infrastructure projects (Sports Hub to be called in June 2010, Downtown Line Extension Stage 2 MRT awarding temporary works contractors, India, Middle East and Hong Kong MRT etc). Yongnam is tendering for S$ 1.5 billion worth of contracts and assuming 1/3 successful, it is worth solid S$ 500 million, as compared to FY2009 turnover revenue of S$ 346.8 million. Yongnam currently as of end Dec 2009, has healthy S$ 492 million order book.
Another positive factor is that Yongnam has 135,000 MT (stock) plus another 15,000 MT (to be purchased) modular structural steel material will bring total 150,000 MT at end 2010, assuming that it is S$ 2000/MT, Yongnam will have material at hand of S$ 300 million. Note that the nearest competitor is only 1/5 the size of Yongnam and to compete on same level, will need to fork out S$ 300 million to bid for international and local complext infrastructure projects. It means that Yongnam is the leader in specialised civil engineering and structural steel contractor. Another growth stock in view of the increasing revenue due to infrastructure projects in Singapore and around the region. Good luck and best wishes to Yongnam's investors.

YN will be effected by increases in steel prices, however increases in iron ore price will eventually filter down to steel prices.
YN would have factored in steel price increases in their tender prices and would have entered into long term contracts to buy steel to lock in prices. These measures put together will help to soften the impact to the balance sheet.
