So are the share prices going up by 6.9% too? Cos inflation mah? Logical? Smiley

The inflation is 6.9% this month.

Even my yearly pay increment doesn't hit that amount. So I am actually getting a pay cut every year.

oh boy oh boy .... looks like a lot of things are going into overdrive ... i mean .. look at all these increases in prices of oil , food , raw materials ... income gap ... with no let up in sight .... i think somethings are going to give way to a new paradigm shift ... we have become almost 'experts' in the economic model we started back way back last century ... we have fine tuned and fine tuned that we have become excellent 'managers' (who do things right)... where are the 'few good men' or rather the true leaders(who do right things) to lead this century ... ? hahaha !

hahaha ! ... scratching my head ! ... since when did i become so wise ???!! ... i am just a suvaku .. again, i am the last one on planet earth who could know all these things .. i am not even a speck of dust ... perhaps u should call up IMF, WFO , UN etc .. to get the news .. .. hahaha !

but ..anyway ..for some sunday afternoon fun and amusement ..here goes....

....in this age of literacy and instantaneous transfer of data/information sometimes i think that there is a conspiracy/wayang at higher levels ... they know a lot of things but are releasing as they feel fit .... maybe to distract the masses / to 'entertain' the masses ... now that the ' terroists' bogeyman is losing its 'glamour' ... so have to bring in a new bogeyman to keep the masses in line so that it would be easier to manage the world populations...hahaha ..

looking at the rice issues .. maybe after a few weeks they will say that had a bumper harvest and the market will be flooded with rice ....

but seriously ... maybe this could mobilise agricultural nations (see Malaysia) and rich nations to invest in the production of food and encourage more research in food production .. maybe now the oil rich nations (Arab, oil rich ? )could turn to investing in agricultural produce instead of just building the tallest , the most luxurious apartments ... hahaha !

consequences ... mmm ..well they have identified that there is a problem ..therefore will seek solutions towards that end and maybe in a short few years there will be surplus of food items ... and our aussies and yakees will dump the over produced food in the sea or burn them off to maintain the price of the food just like last time hahaha ... i just pray and hope that they are more wiser now and send it to somalia and other starving nations ....hahaha !

in singapore ... maybe our younger generations will realise that we can't take things for granted and always expect a free flow of food ... good that they understand/learn the frugal way of life .. prioritise the things in their life ....maybe more will cut down on eating out at restauarants and start self-cooking at home ... bad news for reatuarant owners/staff in the short term ... maybe the sales of cook books will rocket and more cooking classes will sprout just like stock market trading schools ... hahaha .... NWC might recommend an increase in wages for the lower income group while freezing the salaries of the upper group ...and maybe Chiam Chee Thong will visit his pet idea of growing rice on HDB roof-tops ....hahaha !

all for fun ok .... hahaha ! *wink*

anyway .. going by ur style in some of ur postings  ...  like Jim Rogers said below :  Just stay with what you know and invest accordingly... in other words .. stick to what works for u ... hahaha !

------------------------------------------

and Jim Rogers also seems to indirectly answering ur query about the rise and fall of empire ....

The 21st Century is going to be the century of China, especially Asia and China . Moving to Asia now is like moving to London in 1808, moving to America in 1908. If I'm right, this is the place to be for the next century.

His Golden Rules

What am I doing with new money? I'm buying Taiwan, I'm buying a few Chinese shares, I'm buying the Singapore dollars, the yuan, the Swiss fran and the Japanese yen. I'm buying commodities -- more agricultural commodities today, as a matter of fact -- selling short investment banks in America if they rally. They have been short for a couple of years in the United States. If these things rally, I'll sell more .

That's basically what I'm doing, but who knows whether I'm right or wrong ?

Everybody has to make their own decisions. The only way you are going to be a successful investor is to figure out what you know a lot about , do some homework and invest in it. Don't listen to anybody. If you know a lot about cars or hairdressing or style, invest in it. Do your homework and then invest in it. People always want a hot tip or want to say: " Tell me , tell me , tell me. "

That's not the way to become a successful investor. Just stay with what you know and invest accordingly.

Jim Rogers,

Quantum Fund co-foubder and commodities guru
