The Capital Group ceases to be a significant shareholder after paring down its stake to 4.5% from 5.1%, via open market sales at an average US$0.68 per share

Share price has been trending down, after the poor throughput data from the 3Q13 results, and downbeat guidance from mgt for 2H13. There may also be spillover concern that the Shanghai Free Trade Zone may displace the importance of HPH Trust's ports in HK and Yantian, though this is likely a longer term issue

any expert here can help to clarify :

how can HPHT who  is PE > 20 ( earning < 5% per year ) able to give > 7.5% dividend ( paying more than they earn every year )??    They must be drawing from their cash reserve to pay dividend, but how long will this cash reserve last since they have drawn for nearly 2 years already since IPO ?    Without this cash reserve , will the dividend ended up around 3% per year since they have to retain certain money for future  growth ?

Those who bought at IPO are crying foul. Tough luck.  U win some u lose some!

Good yield at current price of  below 0.70 cents. Financing in 2014! Old man will manage as he always does. Temasek bought in at $0.73 on the 12 of NOV. U decide. Short term challenging but since  Singapore trade numbers came out good.........doesnt it tell you something. Ports are a buzzing again.    With holidays around the corner  trade might pick up.

Due your own DD and good luck.

By the way dividend  will be in  Feb right? Anyone knows?

Not sure how you guys look at this counter. For me I think that a potential up side of 10-15 percent capital gain exist in the short term. Taking into consideration of the support point at 0.85 (sgd), and it's fair value. I think its worth a bet. Hence I I took the plunge. However strict stop loss must be done and not forgetting the huge amount of debt going to due coming 2014. It will be a a challenge for hph to refinance.

Side track, based on this I manage to punt abit on noble group when they fall to all time low at 0.79 last month and subsequently rally up.that was the time when ppl are crying out loud to avoid noble and all says it will hit 50 cents to 60 cents zone.

2 cents. :-)

Well done Starlene.  I share your sentiment but at below US0.70 with very high yield, I cannot resist going in.  It may go down a bit more but it may also move up if world trade picks up.

Avoid Li Ka Shing counters at all cost..

I bought at ipo & trying to get rid of it. Only haven't had the time to calculate if the dividends have covered my loss.
I dun have the do the maths to tell me no.

1) 19 Sep 2013 010113 - 300613 HKD 0.187 = USS$0.02411
2) 26 Mar 2013 010712 - 311212 HKD 0.2719 = USS$0.03505
3) 21 Sep 2012 010112 - 300612 HKD 0.2405 = USS$0.03101
4) 29 Mar 2012 010711 - 311211 HKD 0.234 = USS$0.03014
5) 22 Sep 2011 180311 - 300611 HKD 0.143 = USD$0.01834

Above based on the actual forex conversion. So total distributions per share = USD$0.13865

IPO: USD 1.01
Today close: USD 0.73
Add total distributions = USD 0.86865
Loss = USD$0.14135

So there you have it. If they continue with the current rate of distributions, and provided the price remain at current level, you will probably break even in around 2 yrs.
