Hi, the oil sector has been unfairly tarred with the same brush as BP on the whole n dropped more than it shld as a whole. I believe there r gems there u can park your money in. But that's just me, your call.

I think it is a good counter.  I will do some research before I proceed to buy.

I am afraid, fund size is not sufficient for equity investment.

Actually the "time is ripe" soon if not for this plunge on Friday. If you intend to invest longer term, no. 3 is good, I choose Sembcorp (good fundamental stock, range between $3.90-$4.09 still healthy) or Olam (currently strongest, turning up these 2 days). No. 1 is quite speculative, NOL is a very choppy stock, for earning quick money. As for no. 2, I don't think Swiber is a good choice, still a downtrend stock but the pace has slowed down. If break 0.89, better not touch, downtrend might resume. Smiley 53

I think the no. 2 choice is the best for you because you already holding to those counters.

What concern me is when you wrote "when time is ripe".

Do you know when is "when the time is ripe"?

Thks all for the advice. i currently have 1 lot of cosco, swiber and cse global besides a modest portfolio of telcos and reits/trusts.

Was tinking of using the 4k to either:

1) buy 1 lot of NOL, 1 lot ezra when time is ripe.

2) add on to my 1 lot of cosco, swiber and sold off when time is ripe

3) buy 1 lot of blue chip (sembcorp, capital land, singtel, olam)

Am currently sitting on a peanuts loss of 1.5k due to some stock trading tuition fees 2 yrs back and wana to regain it bk.

Never mind...

As long as you are sensible and intelligent enough not to bet your house,

you will be fine...

Because if you are not sharp enough,

'tuition fees' can be truly unlimited... Smiley

This may be an-ultra-defensive suggestion, but yet practical...

Use your $4,000 to buy a good blue-chip stock

when every stock player you know shivers (trembles) in his pants

when you merely mention the word "stocks" to them...

But you will need great patience... Smiley

With just 4k capital, I'll focus on 1 good fundamental stock that is below $1.

I'll Buy when I see a Bull Rally coming and Sell on sight of Bear market.

I'll Buy bit by bit, 1k at a time, until all 4k is invested.

I suggest you focus on GoldenAgr.

Please note my strategy is for mid-term trading or long-term investing.

I will recommend to buy C/O Pharmacy , good divided but a bit risky.

4K is a bit low for investment.......the returns will not be high if you go for indicative counters...if you go for penny stocks...the risk will be too high.......

You may want to look into the below

Fundamental counters: RafflesMed, Kepland, ST Eng, SPH

Non fundamental counters: Lian Beng, LC Dev, CWT, MappleTree Log
