One more option :   Do consider getting your friend to buy  (Not sell, or this will result in short-selling position)   if  your internet brokerage platforms are jammed.

Benefit:  you get to  buy more lots at price affordable to you.

P/s -    You must have that  'TRUSTED' friend / buddy.

I've been using Poems since I started trading and also using iocbc... so far here's what I like and don't like:

Yes both can be accessed using iphone, poems thru safari and iocbc thru its app, but so far poems can see more details and it's not so "crowded" in details compared to iocbc app... so in terms of mobile trading i still love poems... but it kind of get laggy in the first 15 mins of the trading day and it's hard to put in orders or even view the prices...

Can do EPS for both poems and iocbc and only difference is timing of fund coming in... iocbc is pretty prompt and automatic... poems u still need to request....

Its best to have more than one trading account so that if one crash on u can still trade in another...

Hope this helps...

well said Andrew.

I used kim eng, poem and dbsv.  so far, love poem the best for the following reasons :

i) poem - can access on the go on a mobile.  even with iphone thou the features will b limited but at least can trade is gd enough....

poem - i currently stil using it.  u can now easily submit an online form thru the poem online platform to request the transfer of any cr balances arising from sales proceeds or contra gains directly into your pre-designated bank account, which fund will be value same day if req submit before 10am on trading day. e.g shares due today, cr balance avail tmr morning, once confirmed sum avail on ledger, can fill up form tmr before 10am and u get your funds credited on the same day to your pre-designated bank acct - easy and convenience Smiley

-EPS - electronic payment for shares, as long as u key in b4 9pm (although stated 9.30pm on the site), the stockbroker will receive your funds immed the next workday morning and your shares can be paid on sighting of the funds by the broker.

the only setback which it is not as gd as the bank backed brokers is the internet banking bill payment arrangement-  if u make payment today, they get to receive only 2 working days later as it needs time to trf the funds fr the paying bank into the broker's receiving bank account.  for internet bill payment, dbsv will be the top choice for reason that most ppl own a dbs or posb account and any payment made today, will be sighted the next work day by noon latest.   if not that dbsv is still not mobile based friendly yet, i probably will use it too as u can now pay directly thru iphone any bill or funds transfer....but it is a matter of time that dbsv will be joining the rest of the brokers to provide mobile based online trading platform, so do consider opening more trading accounts as there is no cost till date for maintaining one...but nobody can guarantee it will be the same in future....

another advtg is if your trading limit is busted with one broker, u still hav another acct to buy more or sell more...this is esp impt in a upward mkt, as u may not be able to reach your broker to up the limit so soon...enjoy tradingSmiley

I used to trade with POEMS many years ago.  Here are some of my comment :

a) As POEMS is not affiliated with a Bank like iOCBC with OCBC or DBSVicker with DBS.  They cannot hold your cash in stock transaction.  So they put your monies with a trustee in a form of unit trust. You will need to request POEMS to issue a cheque to your account.

So you may end up get cash probably T+5~7 days after transaction.  iOCBC pays to account T+3 after 2pm.

Check with POEMS if they have improved on that.....

b) Trade Record.  POEMS do not have good trade recording info.  No Buyer/Seller Volume, No Day tally, No 20bids depth ASK/BID info.  Just plain Villnia.

POEMS Pro trading platform is good.  Need minimum trade per month or pay $70 or something.

Please check......last check in 2007.

I would suggest that you have at least two online account and one real broker (Must have VP title, these are the more brave type.). Imagine when the market is collapsing......when everybody is rushing to sell, the online platform usually will crash first before the market crash.....heeee

If you can, try and open a few trading accounts with different online brokers.

POEMS is also excellent for a start... Smiley

Hi everyone,

I am new here and would like to have some opinions on Singapore's POEM online trading platform. For those that use it, it will be great to have your feedbacks before I open an account there.

cheers
