thumbs up. good pt by HLJHLJ. when ecy starts to recover, growth stocks will shoot up to the roof as compared to defensive (dividend plays)

Definitely k1 is better than SimSiangChoon. I found somewhere that WB is invested heavily in rails. Don't know why? Maybe he is foreseeing oil will skyrocket again and people will move to rails again for transportations. for long term, k1 is not a bad buy. It is steady one. However, i'm vested as i go for growth stocks. During bear market, it is good to pick up growth stocks along the way. No doubt they'll do down but in real bull, the percentage gain is spectacular. So for long term, growth stocks are more rewarding.

Agreed with HLJHLJ also. K1 Venture can hold the share price steady in this crisis is because of the dividend policy. As long as they give constant good div the share price will hold.

Keppel Corp is the parent. K1 Venture is holding cash hoard. If Keppel Corp need funding, they will instruct K1 to give more cash div in the future. (That my personal view only, that why taking a bet on this burger maintaining the high div policy),

This is a counter to make your porfolio look better, so that you have alittle confidence gain in the market. There is other small cap that giv 8cents on nov 5 SimSiangChoon, even better but this financial crisis will definite affect its earring i think so no buy for me.

Thanks for your help! Looks like I got the wrong info from this lady at K1 over the phone... She told me that I can still buy in before 10 Nov and qualify for the dividends because of the "Buy-In Last Cum Date" which is 10 Nov... Ex-date : 5 Nov 2008 Buy-In Last Cum Date : 10 Nov 2008 Record Date : 7 Nov 2008 Date Paid/Payable : 18 Nov 2008

1. I got a few lots at 8.57am before the exchange opened for the day. Do I qualify for the dividends?

NO

2. Do I qualify for the dividends even if I buy in over the next few days before 10 Nov?

NO

2. Can I sell away my holdings before the payout date and still get the dividend?
YES

3. What ist the record date for?

For CDP to record who held this counter BEFORE XD so that the right people will get the divi

no it is healthy will gave more insight into the company.

Sold but will stay vested in opportunity arise.  Maybe joking. the company reward all the directors with k1 venture instead of cash. Look all you director better buck up, give u shares as bonus. look at what u have invest in K1.

Rail is a long term business, with airline busting they might get to increase their pie for cargo business from airline.

Now us in recession more child care in demand as both parent got to work - no more desperate house wife

American are big risk taker, they can expand very fast in good times (they dare to open a few hundred shops in a year for retail but not for asian co generately more conservative) Well i guess got good side and bad side. This counter beta is low easy to track, no many speculator or punter hence no big movement

I was attracted to K1 when i see the cash hoard earlier this year 400mil now about 100 still healthy.

Just for discussion and oni my opinion.

they have venture in child care centre....i mean when ppl are out of job why need child care?Spore govt also have venture(major shareholder)in ABC learning a child care centre in australia and now ABC learning is gg broke and so the GIC $$$ is bye bye too.

K1 also venture into oil field. Now we all know that oil px etc...is in the doldrum.

The guy that direct all K1 $$$ into venture is an american guy....wat do u expect? It is a dirty world.

Personally K1 does not have a good future earnings forecast......bt again it is oni my opinion.

All these bleak outlook is also reflected in keppel corp px......and we know KC is not doing so well at the moment.

Ya most their investments are in US but seriously I think only their transportation leasing business will be hit hard if US market deteriorate.

Anyway invested ;)

stupidfool      ( Date: 04-Nov-2008 08:19) Posted:

K1 ventures are mostly in USA.

US is now in shit so the outcome of most ventures will be in shit too.

K1 will fall jialat after ex div.

Just my opinion.

Got to give credit to this counter, share price able to maintain during this crisis if not for it div fluctation will be high and low.

Open in Jan 2008 at 22 cents still around 0.22 cents on Nov 2008. How many counters can you find compare to K1 Venture for this year performance of 2008.

Hope u are right. Just sell out lock in the 3 cent profit first and see the situation then buy back later. Worried about investor sentiment, market is not always rational.

The company is using fair value for its investment if dun sell will not have write down de. Still got more 100mil after this payout. Still is a Cash cow.

The price increases likely due to good sentiment....dividend payout.....suggest to hold this share......strong cash balance and financially sound

For div, after distn, share price will normally drop. So it is the same if you buy now. Basically, you are using your money to pay yourself. Also, don't forget, it could be taxable. Unless of course, the price increases due to good sentiment, then there is a gain, otherwise, it is going a loop. To me, no meaning to go into this now.

In the stock market, one is either buying or selling.

Thus to hold is the equivalent of still 'buying', since holding is but an act of going long... Smiley

Thanks for the comments.

I also have the same sentiment with you on their transportation leasing business. Btw when you buy the shares earlier whats your entry price?

knightbridge      ( Date: 01-Nov-2008 17:25) Posted:

I still holding 40 lot brought earlier this year with 3 div +5 div. Quite good return. Cash hoard in the company still good. Only downside is the investment climate might force them to do investment write down, if not they might change the investment to fair value then no right down. The rail business is in the US, is weak at the moment. For dividend play is good definite increase the return on your total stock porfolio.

As long if they can pay div like the last 2 -3 years, stock price drop to 1cent also nevermind if they can pay big dividend constantly.
