COMMENT Oculus had been, since listing on the SGX-Sesdaq in 2001, been focused on the contact lens industry. However, in 2007, it sold off its contact lens business and is currently proposing a RTO of Oculus by Aretae an environmental resources development and renewable energy company that focuses on creating value from recycling and transforming biomass waste materials into value added products and energy while generating carbon credits.
COMPETITIVE POSITION After the RTO of Aretae Pte Ltd , Oculus would become the first listed company on SGX in the carbon credit trading business. It is a new concept in Singapore and hence more time is required to evaluate this business strategy.
