leaders of the anti-Thaksin "yellow shirt" movement -- representing royalists, the business elite, aristocrats and urban middle class -- gave the government a week to end the crisis, after which they would also hold a mass rally.
The yellow-shirted People's Alliance for Democracy staged a crippling eight-day blockade of Bangkok's airports in December 2008, which left more than 230,000 tourists stranded.

Under extreme national crises. The last time he intervened is in 1992 when troop under Gen  Suchinda minitary dictator shot at pro-democracy demostrators.

The lack of immediate response from the government "sends a signal that they do not take these charges against the yellow shirts seriously." (that where trouble can begin......?, when trouble - trouble come.)

BANGKOK - Thailand's foreign minister Kasit Piromya reported to police Monday to hear charges related to his involvement in mass demonstrations and 35 other leaders of the "yellow shirt" protest movement face criminal charges including terrorism, illegal assembly, attempts to stir unrest, and breaches of aviation law for the eight-day siege of Bangkok's two airports in Nov and Dec 08.

Kasit spoke at several rallies by the protesters, who sought to topple the previous government allied with former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

The protesters occupied the prime minister's office compound for three months and shut down Bangkok's airports. Kasit later hailed the blockade _ which stranded more than 250,000 travelers _ as an "innovation in public protests."

"There is no reason for him to resign at this point. He was only summoned to hear charges and at this stage, he is only a suspect," Thepthai Senpong, Abhisit's spokesman, said Monday.
