yes, they are lucky...... (whethere they are smart, I don't know)... if BOA didn't buy ML ..., it will be USD 9 tongiht... oh well, they are just too lucky to be true..

ah thanks. i couldn't rem what they had averaged it down to. haha. i'd say they were lucky more than smart. but it shows very well how DCA can work for those with deep pockets. (our money wat....) be careful of fed rate cut tmrw. see if it'll actually come true. haha.

Bear comes too sudden, F&F is too big to fail. Lehman problem was known too long ago and yet no action taken. Even at their last days still want to sell like gold....... And BOA is issuing new share for ML...... |

Yah, just got the news that Lehman is filing for bankruptcy. DOW Futures immediately turns downward further, adding another 40pts to the downside....wah, like that the stock mkt is gonna have a hard landing soon....watch out folks when 2.00pm opens in 30 mins time. Those who took position in the morning hoping for a turn around will be in for some rude assault. Good luck folks! | ||||

Temasek had better diversify a bit. I'd not be too keen on Lehman after having taken stakes in Merrill. GIC already took some stakes in UBS and Citi. So the net position for Singapore SWFs is pretty heavy in US financial firms. The financial world is undergoing serious credit contraction. It's so darn hard to call a bottom (ask those who thought 3000, 2800, 2600 were bottoms... now we're at STI 2495 leh!) My thinking is, if it intends to play long-term investor, it might be better off investing in large conglomerates dealing with the supply/provision of essential services in emerging economies that are currently at depressed valuations. SSE is beginning to look attractive for long-term play. I'd like to see it test 2000 though. |

elfin, are you staying in the jungle ??? sorry, can't imagine u don't know this.. their first buy is USD 48, then, ML issue new shares again, so, they have to cash rebate to Temasek, and Temasek use all the cash rebate + new cash to buy ML shares again, and bring down their average price to USD 21... you see how smart is Temasek ? (cost averaging la).. It is a narrow escape for Temasek, can earn 38% !!!!!! GIC gam chong now....
