STI tomorrow should be able to clear 2452 easily. Resistances are 2477, 2498-2500. Possible upside to 2512 if Dow closes > 11059.

If for some reason STI closes below 2452, the 2420 support is important and must not be broken.

assume 1/2 population of america are taxpayers, that's about 200mil.

So every citizen of America is long DJIA with USD$3,500!!! Talking

I agree with you. I think this is only a temporary relief.

The crisis is deep, systemic and of global proportions. Subprime crisis in the US has been for more than a year. Europe has just started to feel the effects. China is similarly affected. Singapore will not be spared too.

The Fed bailout, while refreshing, may not be enough to turn the tide. The market already ASSUMES that the proposal will be approved AND successfully implemented. But that remains to be seen.

Like how the wise saying goes - Pray for the best, Prepare for the worst.

I'm sorry if I sound like a wet blanket. But this may be the great grandmother of all dead cat bounces.

To think harder again at the current mkt situation, the rally is just a temporary relieve for all. The mkt now is very fragile. The meltdown started last November with the mortgage woes and credit crunch and lasted 12 mths now, that brought all (investors, punters) to their knees. It becomes very sensitive to any news, good or bad, and go up or down in large leap.

The bailout by FED on the failed securities and Central Banks in the world are injecting funds into the mkt is to stabilise the mkt...there is no guarantee they will succeed. If they succeed in stablising the mkt, at least till Oct with no short selling, the mkt will react and perform according to the fundamental of the companies, especially the financials. So I think we are not out of the woods as yet.

Meantime, the rally is just to pull up the oversold mkt, and nothing more than that. I would say the short term, 1-2 weeks, it's positive. But beyond that, it's the fate of the companies.

Like many analyst saying, if one day the housing problems in US is not solved, the mkt will still be underwater. I am leaning more to this story and decided to stay sideline till picture is clearer.

Investors are full or worries all the time. When bad financial system in US hasn't come to light, the mkt was worrying about high oil price. Before that GOLD also threaten the mkt when it made its way up above $1000. The comes the commodities that will threaten the inflation. Now when the financial woes in US came to light, investors fret the financial will drag down the economy and will for sure go into reccession. Then the bailout came to rescue the mkt from dropping further. Well the cheers shortlive and now the mkt is worry that the $700 billion bailout might not really bailout the US and will cause a slow death, eventual death of the economy. Today the mkt is worry that the bailout package might not pass through the Congress...sigh! The mkt just find all sort of excuses to drop. So wishy-washy!

What I will do is not to have the bailout in place. Let the mkt drop, drop deep, maybe DOW drop to 8,000 level or lower. This will also cause all the mkt in the world to drop, STI below 2,000. It's at the point that the mkt will come back, clean. In order for the mkt to climb, the mkt needed to be destroyed first.
